air exchanger vent? No I dont know anyone there who is into pest control. My neighbor here does! The wife gave me the okay to hunt roodies this weekend! Yippee! sposed to get some snow too. there is a long tail contest we might enter. Dave, man, get out there! The bucks are running right now! I cant imagine you are worth a crap at work today anyway! And shoot one, cuz i want pictures! (I am sure that will motivate you to get out of bed tomorrow morning....thinking "I better get out there cuz Berettaman said he wants pictures and I cant let him down"!) Little one, Muffy? Daycare? Huh?
What you do today is important, you are trading a day in the rest of your life for it.

Well, now I have different issue. The vent isn't the dryer vent. I don't know what else it could be. I can hear it as I'm typing this and it's driving me nuts. Do you have bathroom in the basement? exhaust vent for the fart fan? Yeah, there is a bathroom down there. This isn't that type of vent. It has a cover just like you'd use for a dryer, it opens when the air blows it and when the air pressure stops, the vent closes. It's a louverd type. It is broken a bit, possibly chewed? So that is why I assumed that was the entrance spot. It is about 8-10' off the ground, but level with my deck and a short crawl for a squirell type to run across the siding. I'll have to do a better search of the soffit/fascia when I get home.

An idea I had from back when I was in the HVAC trade, use a 3/4" fitting brush, the kind to clean the inside of copper pipe fittings, and attach it to a cable or something fairly flexible, and chuck the other end in a cordless drill, the wire bristles should grab onto the hair of whatever kind of critter is in the duct, then you either pull out the critter, or a ball of hair.

I made up the ECO-rope. It would be a granola cruncher's way of humanly allowing this treacherous critter out. It's a bad plan.

I like the direction you are going but maybe we gould go a wee bit further. Take the tube off your gas powered weed-wacker. Most of them are cable driven from the engine to the attachment. Now make whatever sort of midevil torture device you can think of, attach it to the end of the cable & crank that bugger up. Arrow broadheads? Pack of blackcats? Endless possibilities.

Thanks for the feedback dudes, but I'm trying to get the critter out, not have to rebuild my house.

I found it's the basement bathroom, fan vent. I haven't heard anything for a while, so I have it closed off. We'll see what happens I guess.

This situation has escalated to a very interesting level. I think it would be inappropriate to let it die now. Please continue to feed the vultures on the campfire T!!!

Do you have bathroom in the basement? exhaust vent for the fart fan? Pass me a Busch Light please...... Be careful if you try to put anything sharp in the vent, most of it is made out of the same stuff as platic grocery bags. I had OK luck with pushing a shop vac hose into the duct, and then turning on the vacuum when it feels like you run into something. I forgot to put this at the end...
