Hey Ryan, if you get a muzzler stuffer and you shoot them plastic tipped bullets - be sure to get a ram rod extenstion that
is hollowed out so it doesnt deform the tip. The threads on mine
would sometimes pull the bullet out of the sabot. I first thought
it was just another thing they were trying to get you to buy but
my gun went from shooting a pattern to most excellent groups.

But your a smart dude and you prolly already knew this. I'm
stuborn, hard headed and spellin challenged. Hence the Mule
nick name .

Oh yeah smoked a eight pt this a.m. pics coming sometime or
other.

The last hours of the last day of MN 2011 firearms deer season. Most of the camp has packed up and gone home. I'm in my stand for the 1 to 5:15 shift. One last hopeful go of it.

This was our 5th camp chickenbuck hunting season together. It was a great season even without the deer. I hate seeing the regular gun season end though, we really put our time in and all we have to show is the one deer RWS got.

Muzzle loader... Stick snapped, big stick, to my right in cedars.

Anyways, Muzzle loader season starts next week. So we will start getting ready for that tonight.

I ent up bringing mama to the Dr. on Friday night for some stomach cramps. After a couple hours, we found the cause.

Little baby DMD(Dirties Many Diapers) was wanting to come out!

I just found out that the place I hunted last year, and would have hunted THIS year (if I'd had vacation time with the new job) offered up a 12 pointer to the guy who sat there. It wasn't as heavy as the big 8 I got there last year, but it was still a darned nice deer.

And if I'd been there, it maybe/mighta/coulda been mine......sigh.

We had another fun but deerless day in the woods today.

It was a big day for a little guy and his dad. It was Mini man's first day actually in the woods for deer hunting.

The temp was a balmy 9*F when we left the truck.

Loaded up and ready for Da turdy pointer in the pre dawn darkness.

and the deerless hike back to the wheeler

With an 8 o'clock hot choclate break he was able to make it to almost 9:30. So nearly three hours in the stand. Not too bad for the first time.

When asked what his favorite part was, he told me "using the buck caller," (rattle bag) and a very predictable "driving the wheeler."

It was a great day. Anytime I can spend with him is a great day. He was wore out from the long day though. Got up a 4:45 and got back to Grandpa's around noon. He slept 2hrs on the way home....which is the whole trip.
