Well, busy night putting away der rifles, wiping everything down to prevent rust etc. Broke out my muzzle loader and white bear's muzzle loader which I borrowed for RWS last year (been meanin to get that back to ya white bear) grin

Both were loaded on clean bores last winter and never fired during ML season.

And they were still charged today a year later!! shocked

both were loaded with last year's 100 grains american pioneer FFG under hornady 250 gr sst sabots.

The boy and I took them out in the yard and each set up an empty antifreeze jug and let fly from 50 yds offhand.

Both went bang and we both hit our targets (I hit mine better) lol! grin

We cleaned them both and they are ready for a fresh charge.

I also moved the varmint rigs to the front of the gunsafe.

I paid special attention to a ruger M77 standard blued in walnut 220 swift, and a savage 12BVSS in 22-250

That savage is a beast, topped with a Burris 6.5-20 power looking tube with turrets. It shoots what ever you feed it, tight.

I need to recheck zero for 100, 200, 300, 400 etc taking note of the elevation numbers, I'll make a data card to tape on the stock.

I'm gonna raise hell with everything that I can kill without going to jail in order to help the deer population rebound from what the DNR has done to them.

Coyotes are in big trouble.

You coyotes will pay dearly for Minnesota DNR's poor deer management.

Something clever here.

Keating, welcome to the group.Dave has a way of bringing out the posting urge in people. When I first started perusing this thread wayyyyy back when it started I only had less than 10 posts,a fact which Dave commented upon.
This a good place to be with a lot of great people.
I went deer hunting yesterday and had one walk up behind me unseen and startled me when it scented me and blew.It quickly departed the premises with no chance for a shot. That's allright.I'm gradually getting their patterns down pat.
Dave, kill all the song dogs you can.

Stan in SC

The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70,it's almost a religion.

If you have to take a second shot then you probably shouldn't have taken the first shot.

so Stan, which gun went with you this time?

I have never shot a song dog, but would like to. I think my brother and I might try again for them this year. We tried last year, but it was a comedy of errors.

My buddies brother called us sunday night said we had to come over and see what he got. We're thinking a monster buck that he'd been telling us he been watching. we get there and he grabs the horns to this buck in his truck and pulls it out. we thought and looked at each other and said whats so special bout that. He then grabbed the legs and flipped them open. hadn't been gutted yet. it was all Female between those legs, nips and all! No dinger on this Doe. Nicest rack i seen on a doe though!
