Well, On Friday I'm heading to Chickenbuck for the first time this year. ND, RWS, and I are going to try to poke big holes in the deer shaped furry things. I'm excited because I really haven't been to camp this year, sooooo, I have a pot of chili cooking now. Got some breakfast stuff ready to go and my gear is packed except for my clothes.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

We had another fun but deerless day in the woods today. It was a big day for a little guy and his dad. It was Mini man's first day actually in the woods for deer hunting. The temp was a balmy 9*F when we left the truck. Loaded up and ready for Da turdy pointer in the pre dawn darkness. Beginning the trek to the stand. Standing guard and the deerless hike back to the wheeler With an 8 o'clock hot choclate break he was able to make it to almost 9:30. So nearly three hours in the stand. Not too bad for the first time. When asked what his favorite part was, he told me "using the buck caller," (rattle bag) and a very predictable "driving the wheeler." That's the REAL good stuff there TZone...Congrats

Berettaman,In 1991 my old hunting buddy Larry came in to camp with his new rifle.A Model Seven in .308.I fell in love with it.A beautiful light fast handling little carbine in a great caliber which seemed to me then to be(and still does) the perfect Eastern whitetail rifle. Come Christmas of 1992 and I got one for Christmas from three very good friends.Since then I've killed a passel of deer and several coyotes with it.It has always been very accurate and has served me well. At times I will hunt with other rifles but that's always my favorite and will never leave me.

IRM white hot is new to me.
I'm still working on a can of american pioneer gold FFG.
Been pouring 100 grains, hornady SST 250 gr sabots and a rem cleanbore 209 primer.
When I empty the american pioneer can I'm working on I'm going to try BH209
Dave the white hots work well in my T/C Omega and is easy to clean, but the BH209 is the most accurate loose powder I have ever used, except the last two years I have not used it due to iginition problems. It takes a lot of fire to ignite it in my rifle so I switched back to the white hots until I can get it figured out. Maybe my breech plug needs drilled out some? Good luck to you and your hunting pals.

Thanks L2H. That little boy makes all my hunting better. One of these days we'll get one. He eats this stuff up.
On the way out I asked him if he knew the way. He looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "yeah, I can just follow the tracks."
Maybe that's not a big deal, but to me at least, it showed he's paying attention. That was a big deal to me.

I got to have a beer with Dflave and his lady friend tonight. They were in town for Thanksgiving. It was my pleasure to meet them. They're good people, like most of the folks I've met here.
I'm glad we could do it.
