Has anyone had good luck,accuracy wise, with the Sako 75 stainless hunter? I'm considering a .22\250 .Would it be reasonable to expect 1\2 inch accuracy with careful handloading. What's your experience? Thanks! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif" alt="" />

My .22-250 75 shoots like it has eyes.

If i cant get 3 bullet holes touching at 100m it is a bad day.

buy one you will not be dissapointed, great triggers also.

I have this Sako stainless, laminated heavy barreled Varmint rifle in 22-250 Remington. Of course it is not the same as the Hunter version but it�s as accurate as it gets from over the counter. If you buy a Sako rifle you don�t have to worry about quality.

I'll attest to that ... Loggy's is a shooting machine and I have the target in my wallet to prove it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> He wanted to sell me the scope, but I would only take it if the rifle was still attached <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />. I have a S/S 75 in 7mm rem mag and a A1 in 223. Both are like that, great trigger, very accurate, the stocks feel great in my hands, overall great guns. My only beef with my 75 is it's a bit heavy.

I can only confirm the posts above. My brother has two .308 stainless synthetics and a .22-250 stainless synthetic. The two 30 cals will go into a single hole at 100 yds using 150 grn Ballistic Tips. The .22-250 will comfortably shoot .5 moa at the same range with 50 grn Ballistic Tips. All three shot groups.

i've always been a sako fan. i'm in arizona and wonder where's a good source - prefer a shop, but would consider internet? (yeah, don't get out enough!!)

3/4 inch groups @ 100 yards. Nice trigger too.
It's the first syn./stainless I've ever purchased, and it took awhile for me to warm up to it, (the price slowed my first impluse).
I choose a 270WSM.
In my area, the syn./stainless 75 Hunters are popular.

I would think that a heavy barreled 22-250 M-75 would be as or more accurate as either of mine. Every Sako I've owned has been an excellent shooter, buy one and I'll bet you'll be glad you did..............DJ

I have a Stoegr imported SAKO 75 St/Syn .308. I will probably never get rid of this gun. I cant think of anything I do not like other than the key concept lock, which I could buy the other bolt shroud now and get rid of it. I like the DBM, I like th stock design, I like the adjustable trigger, I like the shorter bolt lift and fixed ejector.

I just ordered a 7mm-08 in stainless/synthetic in a Sako last week. I am hoping it is as good a shooter as my Sako 75 Hunter walnut in .280 Rem. That rifle is one of the few that I have owned that so far has shot nearly every kind of factory ammo that I have tried into about 1 inch or less, if I am doing my part.

I own a S-Steel Synthetic Mod 75 in 338 Win Mag and am disappointed! Wish they had built it on the long action and not magnum. The cartridge is ideal for my hunting ranch in South Africa (perfect for gemsbuck, kudu, wildebeest, etc), but the accuracy is not great and the rifle handsome, but cumbersome. Am told Sakos are not good in cartridges over 30-06. Anyone got a comment or advice?

I have the 75 hunter in a 243,270.280,30-06 and 300whby.
All are great shooters. The one that truly is amazing is the 300 whby. I can shoot groups consistantly under 3/4 inch with weatherby 180 grain barnes x bullets.These are factory ammo.

Julian, You need to reload suitable ammo or learn to shoot better. First of all all Sako 75's are guaranteed to shoot 5 shot groups of less than an inch so if your's isn't shooting as well it's either the ammo or you. My M-75 Stainless 338 Win Mag is somewhat long throuted so you might try measuring the length to lands and load your ammo somewhat longer than normal. In measuring the shoulder headspace of quite a number of 338 rounds I've found a lot of variance in factory brass, perhaps this is your problem. Try construction loads with properly resized once fired rounds that are an appropriate distance from the lands. Maybe it's just the ammo you are shooting. My 338 will shoot 3/4" or better 3 shot groups at 200yds, I'd bet yours could too.
As far as not as good in calibers over 30-06, you might go back and look at the groups I posted above, they are typical. I also have a 300 Weatherby that will shoot 3/4" 3 shot groups with Winchester Failsafes at 200 yds, and my 375 H&H shoots equally well with 300gr Barnes X bullets. I have yet to own a Sako 75 that wouldn't shoot 1/2 MOA or better 3 shot groups at 200yds with some bullet/powder combination (I have 7 of them).
The Standard Model 75's are a little on the heavy side for std calibers but for me just about right for the magnums. If you like a lighter rifle try the Finnlites......................DJ

The first time I took my Finnlight 7mm-08 to the range it was putting the shots on top of each other @100yds. I then shot a 1/2" group and a 3/8" [email]group....@200yds.[/email] <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> Used 140 Win BST factory rounds. It is easily the most accurate factory rifle I've owned out of the box, and I've owned a LOT. I'm in love with this rifle <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />---2MG

I have a Sako 75 Stainless Hunter in 6,5x55. I like it very much. First range visit with it produced an 8 mm three shot group with Sako factory 6,5gram fmj ammo from 100 meters. Maybe a pure luck, but I think it shoots very well.

You have to get a firing pin with that bolt shroud. 122.00 shipped from Beretta. I got the firing pin in five days and the shroud almost four months later. Took off about three ounces and looks alot better.

I'd love to have a Sako 75. Until then I shoot mainly a poor man's Sako.......Tikka........1/2" all day long with any factory ammo I try. Same barrel as the 75.
