A buddy text me today and said he found a 5mm Rem RM. I said, wow! Really!? How much? $279! I said, put it in layaway. I don't know why I like this round so much, it just has cool factor!! Anyways, I can't wait to get my hands on er!

Remington 591 in 5mm Rem RM!

my favorite rimfire cartridge...wish someone would contract ruger to make a 77/20 mag !!

Speaking of shooting it - I have long been out of the 5mm Remington Magnum arena - how is ammunition availability, price and quality these days?

Ammo isn't too hard too find. It's about the same as HMR prices. I found a place online to get it for $150/500 rnds. Aguila/Centerion is making 30 grainers. 2300 FPS!

I fell into a pair of rifles just at the time when Centurion had announced they wopuld be producing ammo again......but very few folks knew it yet. Got the rifles dirt cheap.

I've since been having a ball whacking paper, tin and vermin with them. With a bit of practice and mil-dots (or adjustable turrets) you can do some remarkable things.

The original HP ammo was advertised at 2300 fps. But in reality it runs around 2360-2380. The newer released 30 gr. HP Varmint ammo is listed at 2400 fps. I have yet to see what it goes over the chrono at.

'591' Nice find. I have a 592 tube fed my dad gave me with about 500 rounds of Centurion 30 grain hollow points and a 4x32 Simmons Diamond Pro scope. Had her at the range for the first time yesterday. It was great, I would have loved to have sighted her in at 100 Yds but I don't have a range near here to accommodate so I dailed her in at 25 Yds. Shot the red out of the bulls eye with 9 rounds, she is sweet! I can't wait to get some solid ballistics data for the new 5mm Aguila round. I'm thinking about using this rifle for coyote pest control.

I finally got my hands on the 591! And she's a shooter! I topped it with a Cabela's 3-9X40 rimfire with fine x-hairs. Here are some pics of the rifle and groups. 50 yes...5 shots...Centurion site box 30gr
