I am about to make a trade that includes a Bark River knife. The box says Spearti Point, black canvas Carver, Maple, red burl Spacer. On the knife is etched "1st Production Run". The seller fels it is worth more than the $170 it is priced at. I have 30 minutes to trade today or I can do it via mail at a higher cost to me. What do you think?

It looks like black canvas micarta (handle material), a spear point, and a maple burl spacer and red spacers. I have some Bark Rivers with 'first production run' stamped on the blade and it adds nothing to the value of the knives that I have.

Thanks. That's what I thought and I passed on the trade. I did buy a new Bark River Mini-Skinner for $100. I think it's going to suit me fine.

ETA: He also had a Bark River Canadian Special with black micarta scales. Said it was new but he couldn't find the box and sheath. Wanted $160 and said he'd sent the missing stuff. I passed on that too.
