Tough I shoot Berger 175gr BT Match bullets, I'd look at either the 155gr or 168gr Bergers. Use either Winchester or Lapua brass, Varget, Fed 210 or Wolf primers, Varget, and did I say VARGET...

Agreed with AJ. Bergers are great bullets. I use Lapua, Varget, Wolf and JLKs.

For 600, a 175 Sierra works great with Varget. Start at 41gr and work up.

Yes they do, if you want to cull bullets...
No one at the F-Class Nationals would admit to using Sierras.

Al, that's because the folks who shot at the Nationals wanted to win.
Those shooting .308s had the following bullets that I know about:
155 Bergers 175 Bergers 185 Bergers (VLD, Long Range and Hybrid) 190 Bergers 200 Bergers (hybrid) 215 Bergers (hybrid) Not sure on this one.
180 JLK LBT
155 Lapua Scenars
I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.

You can clean a MR target with Sierras. With a good barrel, they will shoot <1/2 MOA @ 600. Save yourself about $12/100 and have fun.

If we shot on MR-1 targets...
Geeze you can be half way out of the black on those hellen keller targets and still score a "10". Try that on an MR-1FC and it will be an "8".

As a training bullet they are not bad; but there is a reason why F-class shooters eschew the Sierras.

You and me both... Testing a new lot# of Varget. 175gr Berger BT Match at 500 yards. Target is 1" diameter, high shot is cold bore shot. Never shot groups like that using SMK's...

Have increased R15 powder to 42.5gr to make 2750 muzzle velo 29" bbl. Keeps bullet super at 1k.

Have you found RL15 to be sensitive when you get to max charges? I"m simply curious as I had issues in 223 with it but attributed to the bullets bases not being able to take the extra thump, BUT I had no real way of knowing if it wasn't RL15 being at the top of the charge area either.
I"d say from the looks of the group that its not an issue with the powder

Jeff, I've not pushed R15 to max loads in 308 or 223. I use R15 25.5gr under 69SMK 0.020" off land in a 223 bolt gun. I haven't measured velo, but no pressure or abnormal case evidence. Pretty accurat too.
That shot above that's out I called out as when I broke trigger something felt wrong with my hold. The 308 load is from Brad Suave in a piece about him at 6br.com. He used it at a past champ. tournament.
I really don't know how good my load is at 1k as I've used it in three tournaments at 1k. Is a great 600 load though! Made a Gold for me in 2010 at RCLRC NRA Regional mid-range champs.
