What model was this? A Glenfield, single-shot .22LR/L/S, cocked via a pull ring on the back of the bolt.

I think it was a Model 10 Glenfield.

Anyone got one? Anyone know where there is one to be had?

Glenfield 10, Marlin 100 - samey-same.

I've never come across one with a cocking ring, only a cocking knob, ala 1903 Springfield.

Here's one F/S @ $75 + S&H

Never seen one with a cocking ring..I do have an old JC Higgins with a cocking knob that was probably made in the 50's as it was my first 22RF...Think it sold for about $13. back then..has fixed sights and no grove for a scope.

Haven't seen your rifle so it could be a factory installed device but that was a fairly common alteration to a lot of single shot rifles that cocked via pulling the cocking knob. You had to open the bolt to load the round, then manually pull the knob back to cock it. If the knob slipped ot of your fingers the round would go off (ask me how I know).

Since these rifles were often used by kids that ring gave a much better purchase on the cocking piece.

Not mine. Looking for one. And, yes, it was factory.

There was a Marlin version that had the ring. I have a couple of the Sears/JC Higgins models that have the cocking knob instead of the ring, and they are grooved for scope mounting. One of 'em was my first rifle back in the early 1960s and looks just like th eone posted on GunsAmerica above.
