Please bear with a very proud grandpa.... Logan is 10, and has been going hunting with me since he was 5. He's hunted himself the last 3 years, with no luck. He is in the stand at every opportunity. He is the most patient, philosophical hunter I know. He says, "It's really quiet and really exciting at the same time." Last year at sundown on the last day, after not even seeing a deer, and after I was saying "I really wish you could have gotten one.", he said, "It's OK poppop. I just think it's really fun being out here." Well, this year, on opening morning of youth season he got his much deserved reward. He shot this buck at 100 yards. I don't know who was happier, him or me, but he didn't stop smiling for 3 days. I don't know how to post actual pics, but it's worth clicking the link . http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/cwralph/Photo11050910.jpg

Now that is too cool! Patience is a virtue and he has it in spades from the looks of it. Congrats to your grandson!

Good for him. At a young age he knows patience wins out. Great looking deer for the young man, rifle details?

trailgator; Thank you sir for sharing the photo and story of your grandson's hunt with us. It's great to see the young hunters being successful and especially so for the ones who have to work at it. Please pass along congratulations to the young man on that handsome buck. A very nice way to start out hunting I'd say! I'll send you a tip of the hat for spending the time with him and obviously being an encouraging and involved grandparent. Well done sir! Thanks again and all the best to you and yours. Regards, Dwayne

Outstanding! The older I get, the more I like to take someone hunting who hasn't taken a deer. It is a great feeling, especially with children, but sometimes even with adults.

Congrats to both of you not just on the deer, but on the making of a REAL hunter! There is nothing more satisfying than hearing those types of words come from a young person; especially today with all the "I'm bored" exclaimations I hear from kids.
You did something right; you both have good reason to be proud!
