Anyone have a Leica er 2.5-10x42 with turrets? How does it compare to a Schmidt and bender summit? I would like to be able to click for longer range shooting out to 800 yards (for targets) out to 500-600 for game (I find past 350 yards the standard hold over and shoot just isn't cutting it for accurate placement with standard cross hairs). Is it possible with the summit to dial in elevation.

Is the ocular on the leica too big to mount in talley lows on a model 700?? The ocular is my main concern. On the other hand the summit looks like it will sit a lot further back than my current leupold.

I don't think you'll be able to satisfy all of your requirements with either of these two IMO. First of all, I wouldn't own a Leica riflescope since their track record of being in/out/in/out of the market is a matter of fact. I have a Summit and it has no peer IMO, but I'm not aware if there is a turret made for it, even a custom one. S&B offers the best combination of reliability and first class glass of any variable riflescope made.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

I have the Leica mounted on a Rem. M7 AWR in 7mm SAUM on Talley Lightweight Low's. No problems at all with the mounting.

I can't compare to S&B, but the Leica is flat out superb.

I'm not sure why you'd need the turrets, you might be able to accomplish the same effect with a B&C or Mil-dot type reticle. Should be faster to use as well. Game doesn't exact stand still forever...

S&B will put their precision hunter turrets on a summit, per an email I received from them.

Hmmm, they told me via email, maybe a month ago, that adding turrets to the Summit wasn't an available option...

Here's a copy & paste straight out of the email I recieved from Mark Cromwell:

You can order the Precision Hunter turrets on any Fixed, Klassik, Zenith or Summit scope.

In a similar/related question he also clarified that they can add just the Precision Hunter turrets and not those on the P&M scopes. Maybe that's the difference.

I was asking a generic question about adding some sort of aftermarket, target-style turrets to the Summit, and this was the response:

"Hello Jordan,

Unfortunately target turrets are not available for the Summit.

Sincerely,
Mark Cromwell"

I just got off the phone with them, I was checking on a Summit that I sent in for service. I asked if they could install an elevation turret, and the answer (after some checking) was yes. They quoted me a price of $250.

Hey smoke,

Why did you have to send that Summit in?

Because it kept causing large groups.

Nah, it was a parallax issue. Haven't heard back yet.
