Guys,
I'm listing this for a neighbor who has just lost her husband recently. This is the only rifle left after the kids grabbed what they wanted.
Remington 700 BDL 8mm Rem Mag. Rifle is gloss blue and sights are still intact. The front sight has a hood. The bolt face doesn't have a mark to show this rifle has been shot. The stock has a gloss finish and just has a couple of tiny handling marks. Really minor marks that you have to look for them. Recoil pad is 1" black which does say Remington on it. The muzzle does have something going on with it just in front of the sight. I didn't scrape it to see if it was pitted. I'll leave that up to the buyer. I don't have pictures but can take some and post them if somebody says they're interested. Don't know many people that are interested in a 8mm Rem Mag. Barrel code is AQ which is March 1978 and he bought it new. Looks like he tried to mount a scope which might be an early Weaver 2.5-7 and didn't do a good job. Worst case is scrap the scope. Let me know if your interested and I'll post pictures. I just don't want to waste my time. I can easily let the auction guy deal with it while he sells the other machinery & equipment. Auction guy appraised the rifle at $950.00 so she wants that price. I have an FFL that will ship for her.
Really gorgeous rifle but I'm not into an 8mm. Let me know if your interested. Thanks
Ken

Just a BDL not a Classic ? If so she'll own it forever at that price. BDLs of that era were no beauties, the caliber verges on obsolete and the noted defects could be serious. About a $600 rifle. Pictures would help a lot, especially close ups of the "issues".
Hey NSAQAM, Larry is very "IN", LOL You also dishonor the 28th division by using the unit patch as an insult. As for the liar, welcher Bricktop, his day is fast approaching. Coward trolls won't accept PMs. How's the phantom "campfire" coming ?

8mm Rem Mag is a excellent caliber. It's worth about $600, the auction guy is way off.

Depending on the condition of the barrel as you said it could be $550 to $650. I've owned one and they are awesome but not as popular as they once were for conversions since the 7mm STW is now factory chambered. You can check Gunbroker.com for a while and you'll see some come and go and get a better feel for the values.

I don't know if the caliber makes it worth more. I just bought the same gun in .270 in 99% condition for $575.

Not picking it apart. Just helping with the price so he can sell it.

She needs to watch Pawn Stars... just because it is appraised at a price doesn't mean it will sell at that price...

Looked on gunbroker and found a couple. By the price you guys claim is fair these guys are really nuts. Found one for starting bid of 500.00 and buy now for 2,000.00 Found another for 1,399.00 with buy now for 1,499.00. Guess they'll own them for a long time at that price. These are used rifles. Another for 800.00 with no sights used. I just posted it here thinking somebody might be into the 8 mag. I'll just let the auction guy handle the sale. Just trying to help the old lady out.

Bump for a nice old gun in a supreme caliber. The one I have has the thin butplate though.

Are any of those other guns selling? Makes me feel like I got a good deal.

firearms44, FYI, I think the best way to see what guns are worth if you are using Gunbroker is to see the "completed auctions". One similar to yours recently sold for $740 with 12 bids. Good luck

What are the scope mounting issues?
I think, therefore I am, conservative.

Jeff,
The slot for a screw driver on the bases are in bad shape. Maybe the old guy used a wrong screw driver. Crosshairs are slanted but no big deal. New bases and rings would cure the problem.

i have been watching the Rem 8mm mag on Gunbroker for while now, over a year, and some nice ones sell in the $650-$850 range. They always seem to sell at a great price when I don't have the cash at hand to buy...

Stoke this with a 180 grain Ballistic Tip and a heap of IMR4350 or RL22 and the 8Mag is on par with the 300/338Ultra Mags. Highly underrated cartridge.
