Can anyone recommend a good deer taxidermist in central iowa? Ames, DM, Boone, Marshalltown area. Feel free to PM me if you have a recommendation or think I should stay away from some. Thanks in advance.

Deer Hunter, I live in the Story City area. I have not used Mike Peterson personally, but I was in his studio (sort of hard to find on a country gravel). The stuff he had hanging and was doing was really nice work in my opinion. If I WAS going to have some work done, this would be the first guy I would go to. Well, let's see him.
Would have a very good west coast recommend if you'd be inclined to drive to Glenwood.

Come on! We are dyin' here. Esp. me since it sounds as though this is within 5-10miles of me. Might be a deer I know personally even!
Anyway, a story would be nice.
I'm guessing but it was first season shotgun last weekend, so it shoulda been good.

It was down in a farm outside of Albia. Saturday afternoon in the pouring rain. Let me find a place to host pictures and I'll put some up.

Nice deer. I have hopes for a similar 8 pt in a couple weeks if he doesn't get shot sooner.
Been to Peterson's or did you find another place? A friend had a grizzly tanned at a place down in Melcher-Dallas. I picked it up for him and he seemed to have nice stuff there - lots of deer and he was moving them through quick. Does his own tanning work.

Sooner might be better than later. Your trunk might be warmer than you think and that hair might slip!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I know many of you have shot deer that put this one to shame, but in 18years of deer hunting, this is the biggest I have ever killed and is a true trophy to me(and that's all that matters anyway.)

Excellent! When I was there I was piking up a beautiful blue goose and there was this amazing moose on the wall that he had just finished. Blew me away. I hope he does as well for you.
