i like one load for one gun. the 180gr partition has been my favorite since the mid 70's. since the advertisements say the accubond is as good as the partition, but with the added benefit of better bc, i think i might want to try them. i hunt elk every year, along with deer and hogs.

so, who uses a 180gr accubond and 30-06 for deer and elk? are you satisfied with the performance of the bullet?

thanks

Why would you want to [bleep] up a good thing now?? grin. Do you take shots at extended ranges (past 600 yards)? Would you personally benefit from switching? Sorry for all the questions but my 30-06's love the 165 hornady interlock sp bullet and 180 gr. partitions. All of them (4 30-06's in the stable) shoot these sub moa, I've tried the accubomb and didn't notice a difference at short range (up to 300 yards). I'm sure past 600 you'll start noticing a difference.

I used to be a -06 slut. Ran several for over 18-20 yrs straight. Didn't touch another cartridge in that time frame. Tried plenty of different ammo. The next -06 I own will push nothing but 180gr Accubonds.. I think it's the perfect combo..

From my experience I've never seen an Accubond that didn't act like a Partition. Performance on game is a mirror image of the Partition..

I haven't been able to get 180 Accubonds to shoot in the 3 30-06's I have tried them in. Now the 165 is another story, and would honestly be my pick.

The 180 Partition is still the benchmark IMO, hard to mess with perfection.

have not used the partition, but have shot about 20 deer, a few large and small hogs and an elk with the 180 AB out of my 300 SAUM (which is basically a short action 30-06+p) and performance has been impressive in every case. have also shot them on targets out to 800 yards - they are very accurate in my rifle (1:12")

My Classic FW likes this load. My shots are often in the 100 yd +or- range and I am confident with this for NC/SC deer. I have tried the 150 and 165 SGK and they shoot high and to the right under similar conditons. I have tried others as well, but the 180 AB is the one for my M70.

Winchester factory 180 Accubond did an impressive job on a cow elk (.30-06, 70 yard shoulder shot, full penetration) my buddy shot a month ago. The internal damage was impressive. The cow was down in 20 yards.

I've used both 180 gr partitions and accubonds in my 300 win mag. Both perform well and had similar results on 2 deer I've taken although, the partitions seemed make a cleaner exit wound. The only reason I'm sticking with the partitions is that they shoot more accurately out of my rifle...out to 300 yards anyway. Nothing wrong with experimenting and your results may be different.

I used 165gr Accubonds the first couple years I hunted with my Tikka '06. This last season I decided to try the 180s. In my rifle they shot better than the 165s. About a month ago, they killed a spike elk with no drama at 330yds.

165 gr. Accubonds in my 30-06. I either use them or the Partitions. I think you will be very happy with the 180 gr. Accubond. My son just took a really nice cow elk with his 300 WSM and 180 gr. Accubond at 90 yards. It hit rib going in, angled up and caught the spine pretty darn good, and then took out the shoulder bone on the off-side. It expanded to over .600 and retained 64% with a picture perfect mushroom. Love those Accubonds.

IMR4350 is my powder for them!!

I'd hunt anything in the continental US with 180gr Partitions over 56gr. IMR4350.

I use Accubonds in other calibers, but the performance seems a whole lot more like Ballistic Tips than Partitions.

My pard took an elk last month that was quartering away with his '06 and 180 AB's. The bullet went through a rib, through the chest cavity, and out the front shoulder.

I shoot the 180 accubond in my 06. I gave it a try after Mule Deer posted one of his favorite 30-06 loads of 58gr of ramshot hunter and 180 grainer. I got just under moa accuracy and around 2800fps. I have taken 2 nice 8pointers with this load and terminal performance was great with the 180 accubond. Complete pass through after a busting a shoulder. I killed a few with the 180 accubond out of my 300. When launch speeds exceed 3000 fps they come apart at close range (very nasty but very dead deer).

Running a max load of H4350 with a 180 accubond in my old B series 700. Shoots really well at 2790 to 2800 fps.
