i've been experimenting with the 165 ttsx on paper with good results so far. velocity is around 3100fps. just wondering if the 150ttsx would be more adequate on deer since velocity is somewhat the key in the ttsx performance it seems as far expansion.

Not sure if it is an apples to apples comparison but here are two barnes 145 LRX bullets after hitting at elk at 300yds with 3,100fps muzzle velocity. Both are well over 99% weight retention, with the increased BC of the 165s I'd say you're good to go unless you get better accuracy out of the 150s.
Wanted: Vintage Remington or Winchester hats, patches, shirts. PM me if you have something.

If you do not need the range that the 165s give you, drop all the way to the 130s. They won't come undone at point blank range and they work better IMO than the bullets.

I've had great results with the 168ttsx @ 3100. We've taken five deer with them with good performance. I agree that the 130s are the way to go if you're purely talking deer hunting inside 400yds. Slightly less recoil, etc.

A 130 tsx at 3500fps using Win 760 should be bad medicine on a whitetail.

I smoked a lot of animals in Africa with the 168 TTSX and it worked wonders.

thanks. the 165s shoot really well so far. i haven't shot anything other than paper with them so far. i sure wish the BCs were higher on the ttsx.

Whats your load, trying to get a fussy 300 WSM to shoot. For what it's worth, my 300 WSM loves W760....especially 150 gr loads.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

KK Alaska, The load I am using is 67.5gr of H4350. I have to set the bullet WAY far back as I am shooting it in an HS Precision bottom metal and the clip is really not very long. It shoots 3/4" @ almost 3200fps. I have some loaded up already if you would like to try. PM me your # and I will tell you where in Eagle River I am. Steve
