Hi Blair, small world. I know Marathon my place is in Kaministiquia just outside of T Bay. Ya I think it was a fair deal. Maybe sometime we will bump into each other. Dale I am in McBride, BC. I still have a farm in Northen Ontario as well, so I am a bit of a ramblin man. I dont prospect but am in the market for a trapline if you here of any.
Thanks, Dog_River
You are a couple hours to the west of me! Hinton AB. I used to live in Northwestern ON, Marathon to be exact. Welcome to the forum. I saw the site that you snatched that rifle up on, good grab. Blair

I just got my 99F today in the mail. It seems it's in decent shape. I will get some nice photos and the numbers off it. I would appriciate your guy's help in determining exactly what it is. I love the feel of it and it seems very light to me.
Thank, Dog_River

Its a 99F serial #961094 Under the forearm and infront of the reciever there is a Captial B and a small m The lever pin is loose, the pistol cap is cracked, it has a steel butt plate, the blueing on the lever and 1" down from the muzzel is gone, otherwise the blueing is in decent shape, there is stain/varnish on the barrel at the forearm and a bit on the reciever that I would like to clean up (insert tip here). a few little dings in the wood but overall seems tight and hopefully a pretty good shooter.it has a 4 x 40 ruko that I will replace and weaver rings.. the gun does not have any swivels I would like to install the correct ones if possiable or ???
pics will be up in few days as I have to travel in the morning. thoughts and advise appriciated and thanks in advance.

don't install swivels... that would be bad...
the lever was never blued, it was case hardened and its worn off... leave it alone as well.
replacement grip caps can be bought aftermarket no problem.
put a decent scope on it and go shoot!

You should probably install a compass in the buttstock so you can find your way home!

put a decent scope on it and go shoot! Someday I'll learn to keep my mouth shut. I just don't know when that will be. This young man is obviously a hunter. His rifle is going to get used for hunting,,,,,,,,GOD forbid. It is already in a condition where most "collectors" would pass. If he wants a sling on HIS rifle and prefers one that is attached with swivels, by all means, do it. There are alternatives with slings just as there is with scopes. He COULD put a sling on without ANY additional hardware. I'm not putting your advice down, Drew. I guess I'm just tired of listening people tell people what they should or shouldn't do. Drew, I apologize if you take what I've said as a personal attack.

Drew, I apologize if you take what I've said as a personal attack. I don't take it as an attack... and I agree for the most part EXCEPT the OP specifically asked for advice and thoughts... thoughts and advise appriciated and thanks in advance. those are mine... I simple fulfilled his request.. had I had more time, I would have explained about the no drill slings. I clearly have no issue with him hunting with it as I recommended that he scope it and go shoot... It is simply my "advice" (given its not worth much) to not drilled new holes in the gun... nice Fs in 300 are not uncommon but Fs in general that do not have sling swivels really are pretty hard to find...
