Ultimate fighting superstar and Minnesotan Brock Lesnar was charged Thursday in Canada with deer-hunting violations.
Lesnar, 34, of Alexandria, Minn., has been charged in Medicine Hat with three counts of violating the Alberta Wildlife Act in connection with a 2010 hunting and fishing trip, according to court officials and published reports.
The three counts are failing to tag a deer after killing it; allowing edible mule deer flesh to be wasted or abandoned; and illegal possession of a deer, a Medicine Hat Provincial Court official said.
The former University of Minnesota wrestler was summoned to appear Thursday, but his case has been continued until Jan. 19. Lesnar could not be reached for comment.
The Calgary Herald reported that the case, which also involves charges against a guide, came to the attention of authorities after an inspection of a taxidermist.
"A whitetail deer was found in the possession of the taxidermist and was not tagged, and as a result of that, an investigation ensued," Alberta Sustainable Resource Development spokesman Darcy Whiteside told the Herald, which reported that Lesnar's charges include both a whitetail and a mule deer.
As an American, Lesnar required a guide to hunt in Alberta.
"It is the responsibility of both the hunter and the guide to follow the regulations as it relates to hunting," Whiteside said.
The maximum penalty for each charge is a $50,000 fine and a year in prison.

"The maximum penalty for each charge is a $50,000 fine and a year in prison." - If we had those type fines with a year in jail to boot, well, let's just say we'd have a much better BUCK to doe ratio in the Peach State. That and have the trailer parks condo's would be on the auction block!
Enjoying Each Sunrise...

I'll bet Lesnar thought he was "entitled".
Lot's of folks feel that way.

Nah, I'd wager it was a simple misunderstanding of the rules on Brocks part. I could be wrong obviously.
He seems like a good guy and is an avid outdoorsman.

allowing edible mule deer flesh to be wasted or abandoned I wonder what this entailed.

Stupid guide should take the fall. He's paid the big $$$ to see that visitors to our country follow the rules that they understandably would not be familiar with. Idiot guide .... Also why would the taxi not see that all was kosher with the heads before accepting them into his possesion. Idiot taxidermist .....

Lot's of folks feel that way. I doubt that, he's not a democrat. Hopefully it was a mistake and it all gets taken care of.

What's limit on deer in AB? He had an untagged whitetail in possession but the wasted meat was from a mulie. Are you allowed 1 of each in AB?

"Good guys" - don't use illegal performance enhancing drugs when competing. Of course - some would argue he just works out a lot. So, to sum up - he cheats in sports - and he cheats in hunting. Sounds like a great guy!

I have never taught kids "under the influence" of anything stronger than Tylenol, Aspirin or Ibuprofen.
I only use drugs that the government of Canada says I am legally able to use - for the conditions that I suffer from. I use them at home - when I must.
Any other bright ideas?
You must favour steroid cheaters and poachers - I presume.
I don't.

Talked with my taxidermist when I dropped off this season's deer. He mentioned that he had been rousted by a game warden for 3 days earlier in the year who stopped by and refused to leave. Seems he too was very upset over game heads without tags... problem is that in that particular state the game laws specifically state that the tag remains with the meat. Maybe they'll get around to actually issuing two part tags or allowing the field tag to suffice. Or not.
Not sure what the laws in Canada state though.

I don't. So, you're a doper? Hell, the schitt should be legalized anyway. I don't smoke it btw, I just support your right to do so.

One thing is for certain, I wouldn't run my mouth to the man so I wouldn't have to see how long I would last.

Canada gives certain people - suffering from specific ailments - permission to possess, to grow and to use cannabis. I was diagnosed with two different and quite severe genetic spinal problems - when I was five. I have suffered severe and chronic pain since then. I also broke my back - in my wild and crazy days. I was never a "user" growing up - not for the first 54 years of my life - in fact.
