Rest assured... This is a 100% hypothetical question. No panda food will be harmed.
My buddy and I watched the Mythbusters episode on youtube with the duct tape cannon. he says "they should have done it with Bamboo".
To which i said"what the fk are you talking about?"
He say "the chinese invented gunpowder, right. and bamboo growns in china. its obvious that the first rifles and cannons were made out of bamboo"
HMMMM.
So i start looking around and low and behold. He's right. even up into WWII and later cannons were made from bamboo.
So when he calls I tell him that he was correct.

so he says "i have moved on, cannons been done. I want to make a suppressor out of bamboo filled with steel wool and wrapped in duct tape..."
To which I reply "Are you calling me on the cellular phone? I don't know you. Who is this? Don't come here, I'm hanging up the phone! Prank caller, prank caller! ..."
So someone give me some numbers, please. I know that beyond illigal, this isnt smart. that the things sot going to do anything other than blow up into a million toothpics and stick hot flaming tape. But i'd rather get him off track and onto something more promising like a bamboo muzzleloader or something.

Notice it is always positioned next to a tree, so the shooter can hide behind something when firing.

Bamboo is natures version of carbon fiber.

I don't know the numbers but the strength to weight ratio for bamboo way up there. Mom had some furniture that was bamboo with roughly 2.5'x4.5'x1" marble tops.

The Asians use bamboo tied with reed grass for scaffold material instead of steel.

Accurate innovations does. Seen photos of it being used as scaffolding in Asian building projects.

That's like asking how close one can get without getting hit, cut, burned, shocked, or falling off. I'll let others conduct those tests.

I find a MIG welder works better on bamboo.

In the Philippines, welder dudes wear a simple belt-pack 220V converter for their welding machine... They drape a bent wire over a lead up in a junction box and just light it up! Bamboo scafford several stories tall... And up to 7 humans on a 175cc motorbike. And and and.... Was in a Moro rebal area and three dudes rode by on a little 125 Honda, they had several SKs and such between them. Our driver dude says, "don't worry - they're just bird hunting."

I always heard bamboo was tough. It just blew up like everything else when we dropped 1000 pounders into it.
