New I-Phone user.
Need advice on app for ballistics. Needs to be easy to use and not overly complicated. I'm not into Mil dots, just hunting and yardage turrets.

Also, the author is constantly upgrading/updating it for free. That's always a good sign.

BulletFlight L2, Ballistic FTE, and Shooter. L2 seems easier use, Shooter is supposed to be most accurate. All have Mil and MOA options.

Dirtfarmer, Though you're not into mil-dots, check out Mil-Dot Ballistics by Tom Holsten. IMO, the GUI is brilliant. LJB

I met a French guy the other day. I asked him "Do you speak German?" He said "No." I said "You're welcome!"

I'm liking Ballistic FTE. Has a library option to save multiple loads, the heads up displayis pretty cool too. I'm surprised you even have it. Usually people who do, actually do some shooting I have been using BulletFlight for the last 3 years. Recently it has been malfunctioning on 2 devices I have it installed on, both iPhones. It won't save the BC field on the rifle profile page. The BC field randomly changes as you use the phone for whatever purpose you need it for, then return to the program's rifle profile page. I have been in contact with Robert Silvers the writer of the program and he has no idea what's going on. I've restored the phone, deleted the program, re-installed and nothing works. It only malfunctions on BC's that have been manually input, not the Brian Litz G7 BC's from the bullet library. I have purchased Ballistic FTE and input all of my rifle profiles. Did a little tweaking to have the same data output as was confirmed with BulletFlight. I think that Ballistic will be a better, easier to use program. I like the fact that on the range card output you can choose MOA for drop and mRad for windage simultaneously. I have MOA knobs and a TMR reticle on one scope and this helps. With BulletFlight the output for windage and drop had to be the same on the card.

Not to hijack this thread. I have Ballistic on my iPod and would like to print the trajectory chart for a given load and compare the computed info against actual field conditions and make corrections as needed. Can this be done?
Thanks Deans

Thanks Deans Yes. After you develop the load, chronograph it so you know the velocity. If you have a Kestrel, take the atmospheric conditions from it, if not, take the atmosphere from the nearest weather station. Input all of these things into Ballistic on your rifle profile page and compute "trajectory". Go to the range and shoot. Hopefully you have a silhouette range like us with steel out to 800 or 1000. Take the dope from Ballistic's output, dial and shoot working your way out. If elevation is off, make adjustments till it's on and record the ranges and data on a piece of paper. If your actual data differs from Ballistic's, go back into the profile page and change the velocity input up or down to try to make the program's output match actual.

I've been using Strelok for Android and am very please with it actually. I believe its the same as the istrelok that Tom264 mentioned. Although Tom264 said iStrelok was simple, so perhaps the android version has some more options. The android version I have seems to have a lot of options available for set up and data. So far its been pretty dang accurate.

The "shooter" app for the android is really good and uses the same algorithm as JBM. It will be available for I products very soon. I have tried quite a few and haven't found anything like it. I prefer it over Exbal.
