okay, i'm pretty set on the marlin for my first rf rifle but i want another opinion. what rifle for the same or less money could be more accurate, reliable, and simple than a 795? i've heard good things about the crickets and love H&R but same money plus more bullets down range = better gun, right? also, what would be a good set of CHEAP aftermarket sights for said rifle? thanks a bunch, guys and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I grew up with a 10/22 in my hand. But, when I picked up a Marlin 60 about 5 years ago and it was love at first touch. Same as the 795 but has a tube mag instead of detatch able.
The Ruger did spoil me in one way with the flush rotary magazine.... if the 795 had that Id buy one in a heartbeat for the ease of unloading.
I dont think you can go wrong with the 795 or a 60 depending on your mag preference smile

the model 60 is another option i was considering. a friend of mine has a glenfield that shoots great but the stock is too high, so high in fact that it's very hard to line up with the sights. do the new ones have more of a drop at the comb? also, the new ones have a capacity of 14 rounds where the 795 has a capacity of 10 plus the option of extra mags... but the 60 has a longer barrel and less stuff poking out to get snagged on... here's an idea, how about taking a mag from an old 60 and installing it on new one, it would look weird but might work... any feedback?

Look in the Marlin section on this website. There's lots of info there.
