What a great guy. I got him on the phone this morning to discuss some questions on longbows and his Whip longbow specifically. Next thing I knew we had one spec'd out and it will be here before the end of January.
64" lefthanded, 52# at 31", Whip model, cocobolo riser with myrtle veneers on the limbs. It will weigh around 1 pound 6 ounces. Got tired of trying to find a used one close to what I wanted and now will have it in plenty of time for fall hunts.
Everything I have read on these has been very positive and can't help but think this will open up a whole new style of hunting for me. Pretty exciting.

My next purchased longbow is going to be a Montana.
Might be a year or so but I plan on buying one. I think MontanaCreekHunter has a Dan Toelke Whip bow.

Good to hear that you are pleased with yours. I found a lot of similar comments on the web about Toelke bows. This is what the cocobolo and myrtle should look like. Glad it doesn't take as long a mcmillan to get one.

Dan is positively one of the best guys going, when he was at Ronan Sports and Western I got to know him fairly well. IMO one of the most knowledgeable people in the world when it comes to about anything going with hunting and fishing!
I got my Kimber of Or 223 Super America from him it'd been his personal gun. I've had some super times with that gun.

Wish I was closer as I would like to bend his ear some. If Kyle ends up at Montana State, I'll be road tripping north to his place for sure.

You won't find a better long bow at any price then a Toelke. I have a Whip XX. I have shot many long bows over the years and none are as smooth as a Toelke. They have very little stacking and next to nothing for hand shock. You will not regret your choice in that bow. Take care of it and it will last many lifetimes and be worthy of passing down. I have never met Dan but have talked to him thru e-mail very easy guy to do business with. I highly recommend him to everyone I hear looking for a long bow.

I live in the Flathead, and bump into Dan 3-4 times a year at 3d shoots. I've shot a ton of his longbows and have enjoyed my time with every one of them. I'm a Schafer recurve lover, and if I ever decided to go Longbow, there's no doubt in my mind that I'd be dropping a grand at Dan's shop.
If anybody here is ever bored on the 1st weekend of May, there's a trad only 3d shoot up at Fawn Creek (close to Libby MT) every year thats one of the best shoots you'll ever make. Dan will be there (so will Dave Windauer and Niel Jacobson)
I'm Irish...
Of course I know how to patch drywall

In the 1980s and 1990s, I used to spend many an hour at Ronan Sports and Western looking over ,buying and trading guns with Dan when he ran the gun dept. there.
Dan was a quality hound back then. He always had a rack full of High End Custom rifles(wood stocked), Coopers,Dakotas,Merkels Kimbers etc before most main stream gunshops up there carried such stuff.
I have never examined or shot one of his bows, but if he put his name on it, it must be top drawer.

Dan got my order on Dec 23rd and bow we discussed is built and shipping on Thursday. Holy cow that guy is fast. Now need to get some arrows picked up and will have this thing running. I'll post a few pics once I get it in here.
