Alex at Europtic said Sako is/has discontinued the A7.

Seems like a good rifle. Wonder why?

May have been cutting into the sales of the higher end rifles. Beretta's marketing of the Sako brand has always been a little mystifying.

I have a stupid question that stems from reading a different thread on this particular rifle.
I handled one of these at a Sportsman's Warehouse a couple of years ago. Suitably impressed with it, although I like the Tikka T3 as well.
One of the faults of the Tikka is that it is only a long action proposition, with a spacer or bolt stop for the short action cartridges.
Does the A7 in short action cartridges actually come with a Short action? Or is it a long action, with a bolt stop and a short action magazine?

Unlike the Tikka the A7 did have a long and short action. I handled a .308 and it was a shorter action than my 25-06. The my Stainless A7 in 25-06 out shot the Sako 85 Finnlight I replace it with If you want a great shooting gun I would keep an eye open for any type of discounts now that they are going away!

Recently I handled a new Sako A7. IMO there is no comparison between it and the T3. To begin with it has a much better soft touch stock and the other big advantage is that the mag can be top loaded unlike the T3.
Then there is the action - it is a clone of the Sako 75 and for me it feels like the best action Sako makes and I prefer it to the Sako 85.
I guess the only disadvantage of the A7 is the smaller range of calibers.......

Hmm, I'll have to keep my eyes open for good deals on closeouts. If anyone spots any good deals, please post up. I have an A7 Stainless in .300WSM, and it is my favorite rifle. I wouldn't mind adding a few more A7's to the stable.

Any particular reason why? The seemed to sell well. They were probably cutting into the T3 sales, and Sako likely makes more money off the T3. Up here they are practically the same price.

They were probably cutting into new 85 sales as well. Hoping and Praying that Beretta unloads sako one day and that it is bought up by a good company or the Sako employees buy it.

Damn! what terrible news, how the brain-trust at Beretta could stop production of this excellent rifle is a puzzle unless it was killing the sells of the Mod 85's, I have had my eye on one of these for sometime now but it looks like I'm going to have to pull the trigger on an A7 Stainless ST model in .300 WSM and soon!...............Hb

I went to another site and those guy's are saying that Beretta is discontinuing the current A7 ST model and will introduce a new A7 that has an upgraded stock with the rubber inserts like the Mod 85 synthetics do, if this is true I would like the new model even better..................Hb

They have been advertising soft touch for awhile. Alex's guy was clear the A7 was being doscontinued. I know Sako changed the stock at some point as the first year or so production were lighter than 2010 models. The stock on mine weighs 35.7 oz........
Guess we will see.

I seen the same comments, but they are all from 2010 when Sako transitioned to the ST stock.

No link, I just googled Sako a7 discontiued and had to look at several links before I found some guy's posting info on this newer version of the A7. I googled again these guy's are on longrangehunting.com they are saying from sources in the industry this is the information they get, a re-release of the A7 with a stock that has soft touch inserts, I guess only time and the shot show will tell..............Hb
