So what is the stuff everybody's using these days? I need to glass bed a few rifles.
I have some Acraglass, but I know there are some other compounds favored these days.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

I've used Acraglass Gel (not the plain runny Acraglass) for a lot of years and still use it. Paste wax for release agent.

And another +1
I use Release Agent as the release agent. But will probably switch to Acra-Release spray-on when I reorder.

SteelBed on kickers, and on any where weight is not a concern. Good stuff.
I've got nothing bad to say about AcraGlass Gel, ProBed 2000, or MarineTex for most other jobs. None have ever let me down. Like others, I'll take the Acra Gel over the runny Acra any day.
I use Johnson Wax as a release agent.

I use a lot of AcraGlass Gel also. Devcon for thumpers. I use the Brownells aerosol release agent.

Curious about Devcon for the big thumpers. I've never used it and would assume from your statement that it's tougher than AcraGlass Gel. Does the AcraGlass Gel not hold the big ones? Please elaborate. DF

Steel Bed, Pro-bed 2000, Johnsons paste wax and McLube 1725L dry film mold release agent in aerosol form.
Marine Tex is good, but shelf life is questionable. Devcon is good but I don't care for the pot life. JMHO

I would like info on what Devcon, Pro-Bed, Marine-Tex and others will do that AcraGlass Gel won't do. I see some question about shelf life and working time on some of these products by their advocates. AcraGlass Gel has no down side that I'm aware of and I've used a bunch of it over the years.
Not trying to put any product down, would just like to know.

Pro Bed and the release agent Charly sends with it. The Brownells spray release agent also works well. -Al

Not trying to put any product down, would just like to know. DF For me, Pro Bed has proven to be more durable than Acra Glass. After many thousands of rounds Pro Bed remains stable. Checking the bedding with a dial indicator confirms this. Acra Glas (gel or original) will move over time. Good shootin'. -Al

I've used acraglas gel and steel bed with complete satisfaction for years, but lately I find myself using JB Weld for most of my small bedding projects. Johnson's Paste Wax works great as a release agent.
