I Have some interest in buying a lightweight semi auto rifle in 223 for deer hunting.I have absolutely no knowledge on the type of AR or ? that I would want to get or if anyone even makes what I am looking for.
What interest me is a rifle with a barrel say somewhere in a range between say 18 to 22 inches. easily scopeable,6 1/2 pounds or less ,capable of 2 inch or less accuracy at 100 yards using factory ammo with Barnes ttsx bullets and at a $1000.00 or less price tag.

Need some input on what I have just described and NOT a recomendation on different calibers or types of rifles suitable for deer hunting as I already have bolt and pump rifles in different calibers.

Look at some of mackaysagebrush's posts in this section.
Just make sure you put a good barrel on it with a 1 in 7 twist and it will shoot any ammo a bolt gun will. Any smith can put together the parts, some are a lot better with ARs than others. Take a look at some of white oak armaments varmint uppers.
They are nice but heavier than what you are looking for.
You will need a short barrel with a light profile.

Do a google search for lightweight AR. There are so many options out there and weight at 6.5 pounds with optics etc. probably comes at a cost.

Here is a discussion on it on another board.

If you're willing to go with a 16" barrel you're options are wide open. Lots of choices in that category.
