On the news this morning, weather man said there was a 100 degree temp spread between Ketchikan, and McGrath! I believe McGrath was -54F.

I been up since 3am with hurricane winds pounding the house. I've never experienced this much wind, for so long.

Winter entertainment is checking statewide high and low temps to see what the disparity is. Yeah, it's a sickness. 100* isn't uncommon.

Its only 75 this morning on Maui but should warm up later. Doesn't sound like I'm missing to much up north right now.

It's warmed up here today over yesterday.
Yesterday -35 ambient, -59 wind chill
Today -30 ambient, about -50 wind chill
Been about the same for a week, looking to get better next week.
Maybe. Might even break the -10 mark....

A few years ago I came across an "Alaska man" questionaire - one of which I remember is "How many clothes does an real Alaskan man wear in winter?" Answer: "None, unless it's raining on Maui." Nope - I am not gonna ask.....

Finally got the propane working again yesterday. No more cooking on the coleman stove. Can't get the woodstove warm enough to cook on without roasting myself out of here. It works for dish and shower water though. Doesn't look like it finished yet though. Sounds like a bit more cold for this area before it's over.

And then there are the extremes of seeing the temp swing 50+ deg in 24 hours, in the same spot. Nothing like going from -20 one day to 35+ and rain the next.
