Seems like one always one gets in close and my buddy wants to tote a shotgun on our next night hunt. Has anyone rolled one with turkey loads? 4's or 5's I was thinking. Wondering how well it would work out to 30yds. I'll have my 223 for the ones further out.

Shot a coyote with steel 4's a couple months ago while bird hunting. They dumped him right on the spot at 30 yards. I imagine lead 4's or 5's would work just fine on a fox.

12 gaude 3" turkey loads with 1 7/8 oz. of #4 copper plated lead is all I use for night calling fox. Lays them out flat to 45 yds. easy.

I used my LC Smith 2 3/4 inch Fed # 4's to take these two grey's . They come into the FoxPro Woodpecker in Distress . Shotgun is hard to beat in thick cover.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I have a couple boxes of that same load in the garage. Figured it would work just fine for the close work. Thanks for the replys all!

We always try to hunt with a rifle and a shotgun. I use lead BB's, but coyotes are are prefered target.

Plated lead #4's will work, I like #2's better if you can find them in lead or tungsten. Most of mine have been with either No. Four Buck or tungsten BB or T shot while coyote calling. That's overkill (if there is such a thing) but the intended target was/is coyotes. Fox aren't very big and it really doesn't take all that much to kill one within reason.

I killed one at about 35 yds when hunting quail with 7 1/2 shot, dropped him on the spot they seem easy to kill.

I have always preferred a shotgun. 3" lead #2's.....Federal. Have killed fox at 65 yards on several occasions.

26" I do use the Patternmaster choke. I think the choke makes a huge difference.
