OK, you've got me. I was raised in the Adirondack mountains on a rural farm and thought I knew a little about snow. What is Snow Ice Cream? How is it made? I hope it has no similarity to our blue eyed snow snakes.

Jeff, I'll show up early just to make sure you have everything priced right So Lee and Dean don't take unfair advantage of you. Snow ice cream is made with - usually cream, milk or in many bush settings evaporated milk and then whatever ingredients you wish, from berries to chocolate, vanilla or even tang, and sometimes eggs, and then taken outside and whipped with enough fresh snow to the desired consistancy.

Jim,
As Phil outlined below.
My wife uses 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk, and 1/2 tsp or so of vanilla extract. Then start adding fresh snow, till you get the desired consistency. Makes for a quick refreshing treat. We don't care for it to be sickening sweet, which is why she cuts the canned milk with plain old milk. Plenty of sugar in the SCM. For variety stir in chocolate, berries, or whatever.

Hey, I kinda like the Tang idea(another bush staple, like Pilot Bread!). Be kinda like orange sherbet. My late friend Jay's favorite toddy around the fire, was hot Tang, with a shot of Yukon Jack. Still make one on occasion for old times sake. If you inhale the fumes while sipping, it'll take your breath away! Jeff

Thanks for the information about Snow Ice Cream. I could see making some. I had never heard of it. Sounds so simple and delicious. Thanks again.

A LH Win or Ruger makes a very nice 9.3! Mines built on a Win 70. The LH SS Rugers at CDNN would make a great 9.3 X 62. Will let you know if I see one. Heres a option if they ever import them http://forums.accuratereloading.com...194/m/4791073961?r=5791026961#5791026961Plan on going to the Gun show!

KK thanks, intresting, I saw that thread but it looks like a long shot. A relativley inexpensive solution might be to get a Tikka T3 06 and rebarrel it. Have hunted a T3 LH .300 Win mag a good bit and I like it, so might go there. Actually ordered a Blaser R8 (gulp)but the 6 month wait as well as the cost is starting to turn me off.

Alaskans consume more ice cream per capita than any other state. Home made ice cream is the best. If you are along the coast, you usually just catch a sea urchin and turn it upside down and dig out the middle of it with a sharp scoop and eat it from the inside out.

I think we consume the most of just about everything per capita! Can't say that I've tried the sea urchin version! "Eskimo ice cream" is probably about the most unusual ice cream I've had. It was the interior(McGrath) version(agutag), made with Crisco(instead of seal oil), sugar, berries, and pike(the fish is steamed, de-boned, water pressed out of it, and then fluffed up and mixed in). It was actually pretty good! Probably shouldn't have had seconds, as it was pretty rich.......gave me a good case of the squirts! Jeff
