Had a Ruger #1 .375 H&H with the 1.5-5..an excellent combination. I probably own more of these than any other model scope. Just mounted one on a 1961 Marlin 336 RC .35 Remington. Same scope that was on the .375 H&H, a Remington 700 .350 RM, a Model 600 .350 RM and a Ruger 77MKII .308. The scope was bought new back in about 1984 and is still ticking right along.

That being said according to the specs it is not really a 5X..it is a 4.5. On a Maine black bear hunt deep in the woods with all the leaves still in the trees on a very cloudy afternoon the scope grayed out 20 minutes after sunset with 10 minutes of shooting time left. It was replaced on that rifle with a Tasco Titan 1.5-6x42mm which has a lot more dusk and dawn ability.

The one nice thing I like about the 1.5-5 is that it can be mounted lower than just about any scope made. I have however come to prefer the 2.5-8x36 as it has better light gathering ability and even when still hunting 2.5-3 is where I usually keep my scopes set.

My Go-To rifle is a Remington Model Seven KS .350 RM and it wears a 1.75-6...your #2 scope.

If you regularly shoot past 250 yards I respectfully recommend #3, the 2.5-8. At 2.5 the scope has plenty of FOV for Up Close And Personal shooting and you will appreciate the extra two power on the top end over the 1.75-6.

I currently have a 3X Leopold on my .375 ( Sako, 18 inch bbl. ) and I think it is just right. I use it to shoot gophers with cast bullets all summer.
