Could one of you gentleman who have a Model 70 Extreme Weather do me a favor and measure the muzzle diameter for me? 270 or 30-06, but would settle for any cartridge as I believe they all are very similar
Building a custom and would like to match factory pipe dimensions
thanks in advance

thanks. Hate to be a pain but would it be possible for someone to measure what the diameter would be at "B" which is 5.5-6" from action? thanks

Just ask the barrel maker to match the contour; if you're going with Pac-Nor, just tell them as they likely already have the contour for the EW Model 70 in their database.

Any company with a profiling lathe can do it. I just had Douglas put a .257 barrel on a Model 70 for me and asked that they match the contour of the original barrel; when I received the barreled action from them, it was a drop-in fit.
Keep your gun-hand ready and your eyes peeled.

Todd, if you are going with Pac-Nor, I just mailed Penny a new production (BACO-FN) model 70 sporter barrel in .270 to copy.
I too am making a custom and I love the model 70 sporter contour.
I am told that instead of using a copy lathe to duplicate the contour, Pac-Nor will take the measurements and create a program for their CNC machine. They can then save that program as a file to be used later...keep in mind I have no idea about machines or lathes or any of that stuff but this is how it was explained to me.
I have heard that although any barrel maker can copy a contour, some of the slender sporter contours can be harder to copy using a lathe.
Recently I ordered a rem mag contour from an excellent barrel maker. When it arrived I compared it against 3 rem mag take off barrels I had kicking around in my re-loading room. I found the copied barrel to be noticeably thicker for about 6" just ahead of the shank. Of course this doesnt impact accuracy but I had a real nice stock that I had to open up just a skotch to get it to fit.
If you are interested, I will sell you that .270 super match stainless barrel Pac-Nor is making for me. I had ordered it to re-barrel my .270 for a true custom but have since found that the factory barrel is capable of great accuracy.
PM me if you are interested.
