I have noticed that Glock has what they call the 'SF' version, and would like to know if the grip circumference is really allthat different - anyone with expereince related to this?

I've got my G20 SF right here.
The standard frame is too thick for my delicate mitt.
The SF fits perfectly.
Handle one of each and you will know imediately which one is right for you.

I have the standard model 20. Yes the grip is thick but its a hell of a gun. Accurate and starting to love to glocks. The 10mm is no slouch

Before I bought my 20SF I tried both. Definatly a big enough difference for me. I bought the SF. Back before the SF I was in the market for a poly .45. I ended up going with the XD because the Glock was just too big. I just bough a GLock 29, This time I ended up without the SF model. I don't know what made it different, but I did not require the SF this time.

A measurement from the backstrap to the trigger would be helpful too. IIRC "SF" stands for Short Frame, not Small Frame. Not sure exactly where the plastic was shaved, but there is a small but noticeable difference.

The 4mm difference isn't much unless your hand size is already marginal, but there is a practical advantage to the SF if the full size frame is too large for you.

The SF is cut higher under the beavertail (which moves the web of your shooting hand closer to the centerline of the bore), the back strap has a less pronounced arch and tucks in tighter to the magazine well at the base of the grip. Shorter well and truly is an apt description.

There's too many complex curves on both the back strap and front strap for a Joe Sixpack measurement to be repeatable and/or meaningful. I'd say the SF is about midway between the standard 20 and the .40S&W or .45GAP models, like the G22 or G37. It's still a big gun but doesn't feel as unwieldy as the un-short G20.

The SF fits almost everyone significantly better than the non SF.
