Here's a pic of some flies that I use on the South Platte River just for AKGrayling. The biggest fly in the pic is the #20 Pheasant Tail on the bottom.

Those are some really small flies. When I fish the smallest I usually use is #18. Any smaller they are a pain to get out of the fish. Riley

The PT is one fly that I won't be cought without. In Cheeseman Canyon an 18 is the biggest that you use on a regular basis. The fish get pounded pretty hard so you use tiny flies and 7X tippet.

When I was fishing on the Deschutes the main flies I were using were beadhead prince and phesant tail and the almighty elk hair caddis!

In the canyon you may get some BWO action but mostly it's nymphing. There are stone flys there but I've never cought a fish on one. For the most part the only bigger patterns that work with any consistancy are SJ worms, scuds, and egg patterns.

These were the main flies I used on the Deschutes. They are both #16.
