Along side the Lyman 311284

What is the company name NOE ? Never heard of 'em. This looks like a round nosed version of the old Saeco mould that I have for 30 caliber.

He makes nice molds. I got a 454 255gr 5 cavity molds about a month ago. The quality is unreal.

I didn't see any info on bullet designs, are they cherry cut or lathe bored? The price for a 4 cavity mold is very reasonable, might have to dream up another .475" design.

NOE does amazing work.

They aren't cherrie cut. I've read on Cast Boolits the process but it leaves me at present.

I have 3 different molds on special order from them.
They are for the 40 S&W,any 25 caliber and one for the 35 Whelen.
I can't wait till they get done,supposed to be sometime this year,spring to summer.
They make some pretty ones.

they (NOE) uses a "form tool" and "interpolates" the cavity with some big machines.

so the simple answer is "cherry" cut.

I have about 25 of his moulds.

I'm planning on picking up one of his 303 cal. molds before long hopefully in will do double duty in my Mosin and Canadian LB 303. I'm kinda leaning towards a FN design to use as a hunting bullet.

Maybe I need to be corrected. How 'bout it Blammer?

the "form tool" looks like a cherry but it's not used the same way.

a pilot hole is drilled then the "form tool" is inserted then the 'drill' is started and then it's rotated in a "circle" of sorts to cut out the cavity.

One form tool can be used to cut a variety of diameters.

On one buy he used ONE form tool to cut 11 diff diameter cavities and 3 diff wt's based on the depth the tool was seated into the cavity.

From what I have read I won't be sorry, waiting on a 4 cavity 280 gr 9.3 GC and a .323 FN I think its an improvment of the old 323471 can't wait!

Hey blammer...how do the hollowpointer tips work? Do you have to knock them out before you open up the molds? I'm trying to figure out how you operate them...

I'll probably just stick to a SWC type but am curious about the hollowpoints. Do they aid much in expansion? I also noticed that in some previous pictures you took, that the hollowpoints had what looked to be an allen wrench pattern pushed into them.
This is one aspect of reloading I've never attempted before.

I'm trying to slowly gather information & equipment because this looks to be the cheapest way to get in a bunch of practice..(which I need)

Dang..I tried to edit my last post but guess I waited too long...

When casting the hollow points, do they just fall out when you open the mold or do you have to retract the hollowpoint inserts before you open the mold?

Reading some of the stuff there has really opened up my eyes...good stuff.

Break the sprue, then open the mould upside down.

the "allen" wrench HP's or the star HP's as they are commonly called are cast just the same way as reg hP's.

close mould, fill, cut sprue, turn upside down (HP pins UP) open mould tap gently and out they fall.
