Just saw that Winchester will be producing the M70 Alaskan in both blue/walnut and stainless/laminate in four popular chamberings as well as returning the .257 Roberts to the Featherweight line. Looks like I'll be buying a couple more Winchesters.

That's sweet. They would hit a grand slam if they would make some left hand versions.

More like a double instead of a home run. Be a lot nicer if the Roberts wasn't a long action. cry

Hmmm, only stainless FW listed on their website are in WSM.

Odd if they discontinue standard chamerings in SS.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing. One of the things I've whined about regarding M70s is the lack of interesting (read as oddball) chamberings. They seem to be coming around. 6mm, .260 and .280 Remingtons, next please? Maybe .284 Winchester?

Excellent.. Now, if they'd just bring back a refined, original trigger design, they'd sell even more..

I see on the Winchester site that the 257 Roberts is listed as a Shot Show special not a regular run . Where does one find a Shot Show special rifle. Looks like the Alaskan is in 375H&H as a special and the 264 mag. In the Super Grade as a special. All are very tempting.

KDK: Your cup runneth over..... grin

I will admit these new chamberings make a guy think....the Roberts is the one that really grabs me....the 264 is interesting, too!

Long action is good, unless it has a blocked magazine, no? You can make one of those 3" Roberts things grin

I'd just wish for, in a perfect world, that Roberts to be most of a pound lighter. Still, pretty tempting.

25" barrels on the Alaskans . . . IMHO they went the wrong direction with barrel length.

What's the significnce of the Roberts being a Shot Show Special. Does that mean you have to be at the Shot Show to buy one. Or will it be a limited run that anyone can order? Thanks
