I checked on that goodwill scope. It is a good deal but the shipping to Alaska is $43. Haven't they heard of flat rate shipping?

I have a couple K-3s that I use for backup scopes on trips, in QD ring pre-sighted, they are so reliable. My 375Win Sav 99 carries a Weaver K-1.5 mounted in the lowest rings I could find, just about the fastest rig I could put together for the swamps of northern WI. My 35 Whelen wore another K-1.5 for a long time after it ate a Vari-X II 1x4x20mm. My old 358 Norma had a K-2.5 on it till I sold it in the early 80's, my nephew still has it on a Sav.99 308.

Great old scopes, never had to repair one. I've owned 20 or so Weaver straigt tubes over the years and never had one break, I've owned 3 Leupolds and 33% of them died, they did fix it no questions asked.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I had a K-4 that outlasted my ownership of several .30/06s and .270s, and was mounted on several different slug guns (12ga.) and it never fogged or lost zero, either. I'd STILL have it if some arsehole hadn't stolen the last rifle it was mounted on. Even with a cracked rear lens, it never fogged. I sent it back for repair after about 10 years, and it came back better than ever.
They are all but bulletproof.

Trace Scope Repair has refurbished several Weavers for me, and every one has been top shelf work.

Will these old scopes take the recoil.

Help appreciated.

thanks

Whenever I see an old scope (Weaver, Redfield, B&L, Lyman) I buy it. Right now I have an old Weaver K-4 on a 35 Whelen and it works great. These old scopes may lack the modern lens coatings, but they are bright and durable. Use the K-2.5!

Good cause or not, what is being offered? The description says "Bausch & Lomb Scopechief Riflescope Weaver K4-W" Is it a Bausch & Lomb, a Bushnell Scopechief or a Weaver K-4?

Pics on the site show stamped model ID. Looks like it was just in a B&L box.

There is one downside to using the old Weavers on hard kicking rifles . That eye piece is a cookie cutter , if it tags you , you will be needing some stitches ! I too buy alot of old scopes , if they're in decent shape . I bought two old Redfields at the LGS one day for $75.00 one was a 2 3/4 W/post and the other was a 1 3/4 to 5 and both had rings on them ! I had no problen turning them into $200.00 .

There is a few things to learn about that site first there not gun people and you must study what is for sale and that there shipping is out of sight sometimes I have bought some stuff off them but I check it out for those reasons

Have two old K series steel tube scopes, both still working well. One scruffy K2.5 and one K4 that appears as-new. The K2.5 looked old and well-used, when I acquired it in 1964.

The K4 has been on a sportized US Rem 30-06 for the past 20 years. Guessing that rifle was sporterized in the 50s or 60s? Scope and rifle are in very good condition and the K4 just looks right, on that old "retro" sporter.

Never really cared much for them nasty, thin cross wires, but they haven't prevented me from killin' stuff yet. No fogging issues with either scope.

I have one that I bought nib with the remington mount; it has done great for the past 15 years. But it has only seen shelf time in my closet and is still new is NIB.

OTOH, I have used several old fixed power weavers and only one did as Mule Deer described.

What about the later V4.5 Weaver, I recently acquired one sitting on top of a Pre'64 Model 70 I bought.
It's a steel tube, duplex reticle and about a 20mm objective lense. It's pretty mint but I wonder where I could use it.
