AG - man the wheels are turning really slowly for you on getting that new shooter! Hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

The pros and cons are pretty much covered above. The factory ammo famine and the 2.820 COAL limitation in Remingtons (Rugers better at 2.870") are the two cons I would mention. Not issues for me though. Pros are it has stopped every bear I shot with it from making me track it. I use 250grs at 2440MV. In short a VERY capable big game rifle IMO (must be why this thread slipped unnoticed into the "big bores only" category).

I've got five 350s at last count so I guess I appreciate the "pros". Gotta get some me Tac to try since it's highly recommended above. So far ReL15 has been very good. My son let this one go but you can recognize my M600/350 by the barrel rib and shark fin sight - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6oHQ0NBQbk&feature=player_embedded

The cheapskate in me likes to be able to get free 30-06 brass and reform it into 35 Whelen. Otherwise I love the ballistics of the .350 Rem Mag.
It might be nice to neck it to .338 just for the heck of it.

Good idea. I think Ruger already did that with the 338 RCM.

Nothing wrong with the whelen, my first 35 was an M98 based 35 whelen ackley, which for various reasons was re-chambered to a 350 Rigby magnum.

But after toating that heavy beast for a week on Montague island, I wanted something lighter and ss. The ruger allweather 350 fit the bill nicely.

About the only con I had with my Rem 673 was that the 225 Accubond had too sharp of an ogive when seated to fit the magazine...Barnes has since come out with Boattail bullets that has solved that issue....other than that it was all pros for me.
Great cartridge!

my affair with the .350s started here

[Linked Image]

and that led me to a 673 that i restocked in McMillan.

[Linked Image]

and from there i had a .350 WSM made on a SS M70.

[Linked Image]

the .350 RM on the left, .350 WSM on the right, with bullets seated to fit their respective magazines.

[Linked Image]

but the 'ol M600 is still my favorite. i missed a stainless Ruger M77 with boat paddle stock in .350 and i've regretted it since

That .350WSM sure looks nice....Haven't looked into it's ballistics...about a little hotter than the 358 Norma?

the 358 Norma is a bigger case and has more poop.

the .350 RM has a case capacity of 70.74 grains of H2o

the 350 WSM has a case capacity of 85.79 grains of H2o

the .358 Norma has a case capacity of 91.74 grains of H2o

i always wanted a .358 Norma.

Someone must have pulled off the original composite stock and put the action in a boat paddle....that would be a nice one to have...

............I don`t own a 35. But the same pro and con analogy can be applied to any round.

As long as you can get brass should there be no factory ammo available, you`ll be fine. That imo is the only real con.

As long as you recognize that this cartridge is not at its best as a 400-500 yard elk round, the 350 RM is nonetheless an excellent choice and at its best if used for its designed purpose.

Aside from any component availability issues, there are no cons to any round as long as the user exercises some common sense, understands any possible limitations and hunts within those limitations.

Enjoy your 350.

.......Bet I can, but not in the way that UUUUUUUU wish!! I`m still waiting for you to accept my invitation to come here and see all of my albums for yourself.......Got 9 big thick albums for ya look through....All 9 are custom made leather bound in assorted colors w/pics going back 40+ years. Black, dark brown, brown, and manila tan.

All page turners.

And btw Tommy! The same guy who I do re-loads for that has a 338 Fed, also has a recently purchased (used for him) 350 Rem Mag. A several year old like new M77 Hawkeye w/ 1-3x20 Weaver sitting on it. Used it on a successful elk hunt a few weeks ago.....I forgot to mention that earlier.

Have a good day Tommy.

Until you can deliver the pic can you please keep describing the "albums" and their contents: custom made in assorted colors, priceless.

.....My same invitation to Tommy goes for you too BC.

As explained before on another thread, I take my pics with w/35mm cameras and put them in albums. Like it or don`t like it.....I don`t care!

In fact, I`m only 5'1" and weigh 130 lbs soaking wet w/clothes on and have slanty eyes. My Accumark is nearly as long as I am tall. And everytime I shoot my 375R Alaskan I fall of the stool but always get right back up to continue my punishment. I have to hold back my tears of pain. cry cry cry cry

Get alot of funny looks at the range. Quite a show! I should sell `em and stick with 22s.

I`m such a whimp........ wink wink wink wink

I'd not walk across the street to meet you bigsqueeze, much less travel to So. Cal. Your continued whining about 35mm film is tiresome. You sir are a LIAR; nothing more, nothing less. You continue your drivel sans any evidence and your posts exemplify that your experience is minimal at best. Do us all a favor, either shut-up or demonstrate your abilities (tangible evidence mind you, not more ranting and raving about your imagined successes).

You are no longer entertaining, you're just plain ole boring...
