A 9 mile "ride" would be so rough comp'd to the 9 mile pack out on shanks mare... wink

My idea of rough ride is a cat walk 24" wide and drop 300' below with a ledge on the upside tall enough you can't grab onto or bail off on...

Deer Creek Pass comes to mind.

The other rough ride is young colt draggin' an angry grouchy mule.

Of course there is rollin' in the sack and calling her the wrong name...

295 yards, .308 Win, with 180 grain Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Tip. Have two more bulls taken in the last two years with the same set up. Another at 240 yards and one at 310 yards.

BigFin - that's one heck of a bull. Congrats!

Didn't anybody tell you the .308 bounces off bull elk?

Thanks.

Yeah, I hear that a lot. But someone forgot to tell the elk that. Last week we smoked a Montana wolf with the same loads at 510 yards.

Only seemed fitting, that we shoot a wolf with the same load we been using for elk. Some coyotes took it on the chin also.

Not sure why that round shoots so well in every .308 I have (three of them), but they make my shooting look better than it really is.

A bunch of the guys at our elk camp use .308's, nearly all use 180 grain bullets, mostly Nosler partitions. They all kill elk and have not lost any wounded animals.

Oh yeah. Gonna be the Season Premier. Should hit the tube around the first week in July.

I have shot more elk with the .308 than any other . Favorite bullet is the 165 Partition, but the 165 Hornady Interlock works as well with proper placement ( same thing with the Partition ). More than any factor is WHERE you place your bullet, shoot em where they live and they won't live long.
