This is a Safe Queen. Traded for it about 8 or 9 years ago with the understanding it had been fired 4 times by the original owner who then decided he wanted something a bit smaller. I cleaned the barrel and all that came out was a bit of powder residue so I believe the story. It is one of the later Express Rifles with the push button floorplate release and without "Whitworth" stamped on the receiver. It is only stamped "Mark X". However the box bears the description "Whitworth Express .458" and has the same serial number as the rifle. So please, no comments to the effect it really isn't a Whitworth. The gun is in excellent shape. In the slide show below one frame shows the Mark X logo, .458 Winchester and the stock crossbolt head. Just above the crossbolt is a slight dent. Inside, when pulled from the stock I found one of the adjustment screws on the trigger had an ear missing from the slotted head. IIRC it is the overtravel screw but I could be wrong. The ebony tip could have been fitted better when installed. I show as best I could in one photo the gap between barrel and tip. Somebody got in a hurry on this, made the gap too big and there are some rough edges there as well. Thought about contouring it to the barrel with black epoxy but never got a round tuit. That's all the faults I can find. The rifle is factory bedded including an extra recoil lug on the barrel bedded into the forearm. It comes with the original box, the plastic bag the rifle came in complete with warning sticker, the plastic bolt bag, styrofoam packing blocks, User Manual, Warranty Card, Safety Warnings Booklet, and Special Offer Cards for the NRA and Gun World. If you collect such rifles as this you'll be hard put to find another in this condition. $1150 shipped CONUS Whitworth SlideShow CLICK IT
