I would like to float and bed the action of mine but it has the thumbhole stock and it curves up around the barrel a bit. I was thinking of placing washers under the action and bedding it to gain some height out of the stock.

I didn't bed mine but cut up a plastic health insurance card and put a couple squares under the action. Worked to float the barrel and has improved accuracy. Mines a thumb hole stock also.

Kimber7man . that's almost exactly what I was thinking of doing only trying fender washers and bedding compound.
Can I ask why you didn't try to bed it so the shims wouldn't more?

It shoots great with the mods I made so I didn't worry about going the next step and bedding it. I pick it up every fall, load up 100 grains of 777 3f loose with a 250 TMZ with blue sabot, and it shoots that first shot to the same point of impact every year. This fall I'm going to start a target that I'll shoot once every year to track it..

I saw the title and couldn't help thinking it was a question about a sorority girl. The answer would be YES!

All joking aside, what does the shim (card) help to achieve? How does it improve accuracy?
