My wife of 30 years has been my accomplished big game hunting partner & really snapped me off with a custom 300 win mag for our 30th wedding anniversary! What a Gal!!! I would deeply appreciate pet-load, accuracy based reloading information for this type of rifle. I am still breaking in the 26" Krieger fluted match grade barrel in #5 contour, which is set on a Winchester Mod. 70 BDL post war action that was blueprinted, trued & lapped. The Monte Carlo stock is pillar bedded & the trigger reworking is truly outstanding. I am currently using up my stock of old reloads that didn't shoot very accurately in my other 300's, however, I am very impressed with the sub moa groups these "old" various loads are now consistently producing in this rifle & am anxious to make-up some real accurate hunting loads, which are known to work in premium match grade barrels for the 300 win mag. My Krieger barrel has a 1 in 11 twist, which I believe should be ideal for both "hunting & competition style bullets" in the 165, 180 & 200 grain range. I am new to this site but not new to reloading... Thank you in advance.

Not too sexy but works really well in my rifles.
180 gr Nosler Partition (I'm going to try Accubonds next) 74gr H4831sc Rem 9.5 Magnum Primers COAL = Max that will feed through the magazine

Im shooting 73.0 of RL22, 200 Accubond(20thousandths from lands) , Fed GMmatch brass, 215M primer @ 3033fps. Accuracy is 5-6" @ 1000 yards for 3 shots. Anywhere from 72-73 grains seems to be the load for 200grainers and RL22. With 180's try around 75 grains.
Also: 73.0 AA3100, 180 Ballistic tip(20 thousandths off lands), Fed GMmatch brass, 215M @ 2950. I know its a slow load, but it shoots very good.
Hope it helps

My custom likes 180 Accubonds with 73gr. of IMR 4350, CCI250's and Winchester brass. I get 3170 out of a 26" barrel and groups between .3 and .8. As always, get your manual, start low and work up. Good luck.

My most accurate loads are:
168 grain Barnes Triple Shock, 84 grains of H1000, WLR primers; 180 grain Barnes Triple Shock, 81 grains of H1000, WLR primers
These are top loads, so start lower and work up.

190 MKs and 73 Grns of H4831 is .2-.3 out of my 26" tube at 100 and in the .6 range at 200 w/ 3 shot groups. The Gamekings are close to that. The 178 Amax will do about 1/2 moa in this tube. I tried the 180 NBTs will several powders and I couldn't get much consistency, mostly .5-1" at 100. H4831 seems to be "the" powder in this rifle.
Good Luck and Congrats on the new Toy.

Thank you All for your detailed information. I am still in the barrel break-in procedure as identified by Krieger. I,ve always accomplished what the barrel makers recommend in the past, so I don't know if it really works or not, however, all of my custom barrels do not copper foul any where near what the factory tubes did... Maybe just pay me know or pay me later? I must say that I am enjoying the foaming boar cleaners vs all the scrubbing with JB!!! In closing, are the Barnes TSX's really worth the extra $$$ & are they all that they are hyped up to be, especially in custom barrels???

Try the 165 grain Sierra BTSP with 70 grains of IMR 4350. 3,000-3,150 fps (depending on barrel length) and sub 1/2 inch groups. Recoil isn't bad either.

I've loaded for about a dozen or so 300 Wins. All but 1 loved RL 22. That is the first powder I try every time I'm working on a 300 Win. 74 to 75.5 w/180s and 71-73 grains for 200s. I'll bet you find what you're looking for there. 163bc

I agree with 163bc, RL22 just plain works for the 300 Win Mag. With 180 gr bullets, 75.0 grs shoots very well, MOA or better.

I think the max was slightly higher ( the book is down stairs, 79 I think was max), I just worked up to that and stopped when I saw the hole. I go for accuracy not speed but sometimes get both. That 165 is 3175 fps.
