Actually - you'll notice that beer bottles have gotten lighter. They got lighter and put the twist tops on - they're considered single use bottles. Not strong enough to handle a return to the brewery, cleaning, de-lableing and refilling.
They ain't strong enough for bar fights anymore, either. Damn pansy-assed short-neck lightweight bottle is damn near worthless as a weapon. No handy neck for a handle to swing it with, and if you jist up an' slam someone upside the head with the whole bottle in your hand, the damn thing will shatter and cut your hand all up. The old heavy longnecks were a thing of beauty. Much better for swingin' and throwin', and they'd cut deep with the bottom knocked off. I miss those old longnecks.... "What's the chicken wire for?"
