I have a Savage-Springfield Model 944 Series A single shot 20 ga. that does not extract nor eject the fired shell. It's been this way since I bought it. I've replaced about everything there is to replace associated with the extractor/ejector with no change. I've very carefully reassembled it exactly as it was when I got it each time I work on it. I'm starting to think it was not assembled correctly to start with. I've searched on line and find exploded diagrams and parts lists, but nothing showing how it's supposed to go together. Can any one help me? Some secret gremlin living in my gun I can't find?

Well, that's an option. I'd really like to get it working, though. It's a great gun, except for not ejecting the shells.
