OP tedtf New Member T Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 3	Looking to add an elk rifle to my line up. Hunt Colorado in mostly timber. Longest shot would be 300 yds max. I'd like to keep total gun weight with scope sub 8 pounds. I do a lot of hiking. I had a Kimber 30-06 classic that wouldn't shoot at all not matter what I tried so I got rid of it. Here are the calibers I'm considering - another 30-06, 7mm WSM, 338 Federal, 300 WSM, or 35 Whelen. I am not a big reloader, so factory ammo availablity is a consideration.
