Area unions and the Occupy movement were gearing up for mass protests of the incoming ship before the settlement was announced.

FWIW, regarding the title of the thread "Union thugs prevail," most are unaware that the dock was already union--just the "wrong" union according to the ILWU. The EGT dock contracted with a different union and ILWU got mad about it. But, they fixed it...

pretty much says all you need to know. Birds of a feather. Many of the occupy idiots protesting at CPAC were hired by unions to show up. Unions have turned into rent a thug organizations for the socialists, doing the work the gay wing of the party can't.

so correct. Sorry if that offends. You have to look at the PNW as to Union involvement. The area of W. WA. has been heavily unionized back into the early 1900's. That with such early unions as the Wobbly's. The area of SW WA. (Cowlitz Co.) where this story is from has had such unions as the IWWA (Intl. Woods Workers of America), in the logging & sawmill industry. The Pulp & Papermakers Union, The Longshoreman's Union, The Electricians Union, The Carpenters Union, Teamsters Union, Aluminum Workers Union etc. That along with many other unions, that I didn't mention. The same with other areas of W. WA. such as the Seattle/Everett area, with the Aerospace Workers Union, and the Machinist Unions etc. at the Boeing Plants in that area. That part of the country, of which you've never lived, you can't compare to the SE US.

Don't confuse them with the facts hunter1960, some of these keyboard commandos have alot more fun revelling in their ignorance of the situation, and calling ILWU members names...something they sure as [bleep] wouldn't do if they were here.
laffin.
I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

I am sure hunter1960 is in a public employee union. I can't see what he posts, but I can always hear the buzz of a scheit eating fly.

Longview, WA was created specifically to house mill workers for 2 new sawmills. They needed 14,000 workers and the tiny town of Kelso couldn't handle them. So, they platted & built Longview in about 1924. It was built with private money from Robert Long, one of the mills' owners, hence the name Longview. It's been a union town ever since.

Other then the big four Memphis, N'ville, Knoxville, Chatt. that are represented by FOP or PBA, which aren't unions. The majority of LE in this state is non-associated with any representation. The majority aren't even civil service. Since you used to bus tables in a Restaurant. Out West they even have Waiter & Waitresses Union. There used to be Union House Retaurants in SW WA. Don't sit here and lie, you can read every word. Your an ignore peeker.

That's correct. R.A. Long, was the owner of LongBell, Logging & Sawmill. All gone now, bought up by Weyerhauser years ago.
