When was that, reminds me of the 71-72 NATO manuvers in Germany... froze my ass off sitting in a APC for a week that winter...

And though I can't say I was in the 82nd, 101st, or the 173rd, not all Airborne troops were in said Divisions.

I was in A Co., 12th Combat Engineers, 1st Brigade, 8th Infantry Division which was Airborne Mecanized Infantry.

I've seen seagulls do that grin

Seriously, that's impressive. What's the total complement of the Brigade? Getting that many guys down that quick is quite a trick.

I am surprised at the large size of the drop zone.

Back in the early 70's the majority of our DZ's were Rubarb fields surounded by grape vinyards, break an ankle on a Rubarb or get skewerd on a grape stake, just all kinds of fun! grin Best part was they were low leval and at night to where you couldn't see them till it was too late. No see, No worry!

A kid, man now, I went to school and played baseball with (his father was our coach, best coach I ever had, RIP coach O!), made the combat jump into Iraq with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the 2003 invasion. I believe they were stationed in Italy.

NYH1!

Take nothing I say personal, remember....it's just the interweb!
