My ranching neighbor is nearing 80 and is slowly divesting himself of things he no longer uses. Since he doesn't own a computer he asked me to inquire as to the pictured Lloyd Pendleton 3.25" drop point knife with stag handle. My friend owned a sporting good store in N. California and purchased this knife from Pendleton in 1978. On the blade it says L. M. Pendleton, San Pablo, Calif. 78. It comes with a nice, heavy leather sheath which has Pendleton Knives San Pablo, Calif. embossed on it. Do any of you have any idea of a fair value of this knife?

Maybe it helps.

Thanks, I had Googled it but had not come up with that site. From some of the prices on that site, it looks like I had better do some additional in-depth research. Thanks again.

A period and model specific Loveless could get you most of the way to a new car...

That is the most absurd thing I have heard reguarding knives. Are you sure about that? I have owned a few from both makers and I sure as hell don't see it that way.

"WOW" did I get a rise with that statement, hee hee And YES I'm sure about that. And I'v owned both and seen a lot of both and as far as knives go Pendlenton is the best. But everone seems to like Loveless the best so they must be worth more, I guess it ALL in the Name.

loveless has that history & mystique that randall also carries. many current knifemakers produce a better knife than randall but few knives are desired globally. my brother was amazed at what people in italy & greece would pay for a current catalogue randall.cranky 72

Never said Loveless was the best. But sure as hell better then Pendleton, with a lot more innovation. But if its what floats your boat then so be it. What I can say for certein is your in the mirority on that.
