Millennium Challenge 2002 (MC02) was a war game exercise that was designed to simulate a challenge to our naval forces in the Persian Gulf. This war game is eerie in that it seems to anticipate the current crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Challenge_2002.The Red Team sank a Blue Team aircraft carrier and other capital ships using low tech weapons available to potential adversaries in the Middle East. At this point, the game marshals �refloated� the sunken ships and restarted the exercise.
In this second round, the Red Team was handicapped to produce a victory for the Blue Team. A Marine Corps general claimed that the outcome was rigged and resigned his position on the Red Team.
