I have purchased a custom 250 Savage Ackley Improved. I was featured in Peterson's Rifle in the 80s. I bought it from the author off consignment. Gun must weigh 5-6 pounds. Mike Bellam did the barrel work.
Local smith checked it out and says im good to go.
Question: Since I do not reload, are there places online where I can order loaded ammo? Should I fireform cases and send them to the company loading for me? Thanks

Learn to reload. It really is the only way to go if you own a wildcat. Otherwise, just shoot factory ammo in your AI.

Not much to add to what has been said. You really need to start reloading to make the 250AI sing. Load up a batch of 80 TTSX and go kill stuff while fireforming.

Reloading is really no big deal. You should be able to get into it for under $500.00 if you peruse the Free Classifieds.
I'll give you an RCBS scale for the cost of postage to get you started. I might have some other stuff to throw at you.
PM me if interested.

I think it is Bellm, not Bellam. I am not being snarky--makes a difference when you google.

Just shoot plain 'ol vanilla 250 Savage ammo. Keep the brass after you shoot it, and then you can use it later if you take up reloading.

You only lose approx 100 ft/sec. Fair trade-off. I've killed a few w/Winchester 100gr soft pts. Post a pix. I'd love to your rifle. Just shoot plain 'ol vanilla 250 Savage ammo. Keep the brass after you shoot it, and then you can use it later if you take up reloading.

It's a fairly simple matter to get into handloading for around $200 buying new. Think LEE...

Do you recommend a kit...or trying to select specific components?
