I picked up a Winchester 9422 in 22 longrifle last thursday. I am still undecided if I am going to scope it or not. I was thinking about the Leupold rimfire line. What size/height rings will I need? Also, I wanted to put a strap on the gun and took the sling swivels off my old 10/22 stock. Should I drill the hole in front of or behind the barrel band? The screw looks to long but I imagine I could file it down. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
"It might be gone when you get here, but basically it's a green, '64 Chevy, driving West down Maine Street. No, I can't make out the licence plate, but ...errrr... it'll be pulling a small church. So any Green Chevy pulling a church down Main Street, I guess that'll be the one."

uncle mikes sells swivles expeciaaly for the 94-22. it clamps on to the tube itself, so you only need to drill in the stock.

Talley makes rings specifically for 9422s that should cover any scope you would consider putting on a 9422.

I used to have an el-cheapo tasco 3x9 pronghorn on my 9422. I used the cheapest ring they had due to the emptyness of a walet owned by a 13 year old. I slapped it on the rifle and kept it like that for several years before coming to my senses and taking it off. It looks so much better now and i dont really notice any problems with shooting things until I start shooting at diggersquirrels in alfalfa fields at 200-300 yards with it. I ussually walk the shots to the squirrel using the puffs of dirt from the bullet for a reference. Ussually take a few shots but it sure is fun. and it adds a twist to the game.
