Have one in a Model 70. Slick as owl's manure and very accurate. Not much kick, easy to load for, etc. Short, fat, .270 WBY.

Had 2. One in T3, other in Model 70.
Fine light cal that shot around 1" with 3 shots. The T3 was the best feeding WSM rifle I had!

The 270 cal is soooooooo versatile.

I would buy it. You might really like it and if not you could probably make a few bucks selling it. The 270wsm is a great caliber!

Nothing special about the 270 WSM. It's just another cartridge.

When the WSM's came out I had to have one as I handload and never admired the belted rounds that could headspace on their shoulders. So I bought a new M70 SS/Syn in 270 WSM and while it was accurate enough at first it had an out of round chamber. Seems that Winchester had overtightened the barrels and that chamber moved into a recess and became out of round.

Since then I have obtained WSM's in the Kimber 8400 rifles which I prefer over that Winchester.

There is nothing good or bad about the 270 WSM unless finding factory loads matters to you. Of course the round is not a popular or well distributed as more popular ones like the 30-06, 270, 7mm RM or even the 300 WM.

I have one 270 WSM and if the barrel wears out I will have it made into a 7mm WSM which is even less popular! wink

Thats the fun of guns. Get what you want.

Nothing wrong with the 270 wsm. Make sure the Sako doesn't hit the scope when it ejects. Also make sure its a SM action size and not a V (magnum action)

I have a 270 WSM in a Remington 700 and like it fine. Also have a 700 in 7mm SAUM and can't see that there is a whole lot of practical, in the field performance, difference between the 2.

I would be all over that Sako like stink on a skunk...especially for that price with the Optilocks. I LOVE the caliber. I bought two of the first 10 Tikka T3 in the LS models in Canada back in 2005 (Sako Greywolf wasnt released yet) and I had waited already the 1 year to get the T3 in the LS model. My wife took over the first , so I bought another for me.

Another, I was a 1-rifle guy till then (Sako m75ss 300WM)-good for anything in NA, and great for Alberta. Then the rifle bug hit, and I thought I would try the 270WSM, was also to get my girlfriend/fiance out hunting too. LOVE IT. I'm so impressed with the performance with 140gr Accubonds...especially my reloads. Elk,moose, deer, bears....1 shot kills. I ALMOST prefer hunting with this rifle. I'm going to sell one of my T3's to do a Sako 270WSM with a McMillan stock that I like.

I have a friend that comes up from Maine every year to hunt(retired Navy Officer). He was so impressed with the caliber, I let him use one of mine for the past 5 years instead of himm bringing in a rifle from the USA. He finally bought a Tikka T3 SS model, had the stock custom camo dipped at Tarjac....looks sweet.

If I could import that Sako rifle you seen into Canada for that price I would!!

I bought one a couple of seasons ago for my wife. She was looking for a rifle with a varmint weight barrel but chambered for a cartridge that was suitable for whitetails. She had been hunting with a .243 for a couple of years and wanted something with a little more margin of error.

I had no experience with the .270 WSM at the time, but what I ended up finding was a closeout deal on a stainless Savage model 16BVSS. The barrel is a varmint taper and 26 inches long. The trigger is an accutrigger.

I figured at worst, it would not turn in one single foot per second more than a standard .270 WCF, but who cares? Anything faster than that is just gravy.

I loaded 50 rounds of 110 grain Barnes TTSX's and mounted a Leupold 3.5-10x. So far, groups have been good, and everything we have shot with it has noticed right off. In my opinion it is a tremendous rifle/cartridge for sitting a stand over an open field.

I load for all our rifles so the price of factory ammunition is not a factor.

Eventually, I do want to mount a scope with a little more magnification, but for shooting whitetails, the 10x top end is really not that big of a handicap.

Grab that Sako if you want it. The cartridge is a good one.

I have 2 - a Win 70 Stainless and Kimber 8400 Montana. The .270 WSM is a great round and one I found very accurate and of course is a hammer on deer and pigs.

I have a Montana that's a 270 WSM. I like the short action and light weight, plus it's very accurate. I wouldn't mind having another one in a Finnlight for $700.

I have a Ruger M77 in 270 WSM. Shoots 140gr Accubonds about
an 1" groups or a little more. Action is very rough
compared to my 270 Winchester Vanguard S2. It,s a very light
rifle so recoil is pretty bad. May be because I have 2 bad
shoulders. One,s in a sling now. Needs a better recoil pad,
maybe I,ll try lighter loads.

I have one on a tuned up 700 in an edge and like it a lot. I also have a KS in 270 WInchester. I see little or no difference in on game performance.

I like them both. On the SAKO, I'd sure say buy it, if it fits you and you have the $$$$'s

I have a Win. Extreme Weather .270 WSM and really like it and I only use my handloads in all of my rifles. This one is easily a 1 inch rifle and MOA out to 300 yds., as far as our range goes. I only use 150 gr. bullets in my .27 cal. rifles and so far, the load I've settled on is 68 grs. of Retumbo with a 150 NorthFork at 3120 fps. I could use a bit more powder but why? This chambering isn't as efficient
velocity - wise since I get 2930 fps. with a 150 Partition in my .270 Win.
However, with my experience over 40+ years with my .270 Win., the WSM is going to be an even better performer on sheep, caribou, etc. Right now, I'm kicking around the idea of working up a load for a 130 gr. bullet for this rifle and if so, will most likely end up using a 130 NorthFork for hunting.
Even with it's inefficiency, I still like it and hope to try it on a moose this next season.
Good luck & enjoy.

That Weaver on the model 70 is a very nice scope. I have the same model on my .270 win...
