Pardon my ignorance, but were there any 1894's with brass receivers? Check out this link...

There were 1894's that were made in the 60's and 70's with brass colored receivers. However what you may be looking at there is an image taken by a camera with the white balance way off and receivor silvered out. No descrption by the seller other than SN means that's one I'd just avoid.

I went to pic #2 and saved. Opened and cropped out the receiver area. Just above the trigger was a worn area showing the thing had been plated along with wear to the right of the loading gate. The forearm tip had been plated too. Thanks, Larry

I see the spot you are looking at and even on a large monitor I can't tell if that was brass plated or just an area that was "cleaned". The spot that catches my attention is just over the trigger on the side of the receiver.
Looks like the seller just put up more images. The butt plate and forearm cap just look silvered out while other images look yellow.
Interesting barrel length. Overall I'd never bid on any gun with out a full description.

Thanks, Dave. We are not bidding on the piece but are curious. On my computer, that "spot" looks worn leading me to believe it had been plated. It is represented as, and the s.n. does come back reflecting 1919. Larry
